Going Downhill

We have stayed at the Travelodge on multiple occasions over the last 4 or 5 years. The last time being in 2023. The quality of the rooms, pool, and overall the entire hotel have gone downhill in those two years. There was trash all around the parking lot and in the pool. On the morning of check out, there was a roach in the bathroom. We will not be staying again.

For our purposes the motel was near the beach and away from the noise of the main drag yet near enough to restaurants and attractions. I could see the Wright Brothers Memorial from our balcony, yet was 3 blocks away.

I would categorize it as a beach hotel. They're always a little dated and sandy feeling, but clean and convenient. The Expedia site says Beachfront, which it is not. It is across the street from the beach which is very misleading.

The property and hotel and staff and all that is just fine. We stay at same hotel everytime we come to OBX. I got to knock them some points off though. 2 years in a row now I’ve paid for my room a month or 2 months early, only to have them “glitch” in the system and charge me again upon arrival. 2 years in a row!! Somethings shady !!
