"The house is conveniently located very close to the black sand beach. If you want to spend time in this area in a secluded setting this place is definitely a good choice with the sound of the ocean.The house is comfortable but the dining area and the living room lighting could use an update. Also not sure if the housekeeper is washing the floor between each guest since we had coffee stain on the patio and the floor also had hair in some places, looked like they dont vacuum too often. Beds were clean and comfy. Master bath shower floor looked like needed some bleach and sinks need cleaning since they slow to drain. I would have gladly communicated this with the hosts and tell them privately but they have not answered to any of my messages so I had no chance talking to them."

"Quirky, fun, secluded lush garden surrounding, friendly personable owner. The solar electricity supply for lighting failed and needed a back up. Beware - if you are expecting location near facilities and a conventional stay, this one is not for you. We enjoyed it nevertheless."

"Bali Temple is a great location for people interested in geology since it is mere steps away from the pāhoehoe lava flows from Kilauea's Kūpaʻianahā vent that buried Kalapana Village and and the black sand beach at Kaimū Bay in 1990, We took long walks on the lava every evening. Kalapana is an easy one hour drive to Kilauea and we were able to witness fountaining episode 51. The house itself is fine but has several minor maintenance issues typical of beach rentals. Also, we both found the three sofas uncomfortable for sitting. And there are two stools, but no comfortable chairs on the lanai which makes it difficult to enjoy the lanai."

"This house was so clean (I’m particularly clean). The house is decorated beautifully. The landscaping is so nice. Feels like you are in the rainforest!! My only complaint is that we couldn’t enjoy the outside patio and porch because of mosquitoes, but that is nature and not the fault of the owners. I loved our stay at the rainforest cottage!! Oh and Mango the friendly cat was so cute!!"

"Amazing place in the middle of the rain forest! We really enjoyed our stay here and the hosts were very responsive. We definitely plan to come back and would recommend it to everyone wanting to experience a real life jungle, complete with neat little singing frogs and wild pigs. :)"

"very nice and comfortable house in a quiet neighborhood. i enjoyed the wall decorations and books and helpful messages. there were all the necessary beach accessories. pahoa town was good business with market and eateries. i really enjoyed puna poke & grill, priced like any other poke but better quality and more choices. while walmart in hilo was cheaper for some things they didn't always have more choices. kta in hilo has always been a good place to shop."
