Luxe Oceanfront Penthouse, 2026 remodel, best views in Kanaloa at Kona
THE SPACE Step onto your main lanai and the view settles the question of which unit to book: the Oceanfront pool shimmers below, the Pacific Ocean stretches to the horizon, and in the evening the sun drops directly into the water in front of you. Unit 2505 sits on the penthouse level — no neighbors above — which means the vaulted ceilings feel genuinely open and the sunset is yours without obstruction. This is the view people post from Kanaloa. You have it every night. The unit was completely remodeled in 2026, and the approach throughout is what Mike and Natalie call discreet luxury — nothing showy, everything considered. Luxury vinyl plank flooring runs throughout. The kitchen features modern appliances, clean lines, brand new quartz countertops, and is fully stocked for real cooking. Both bathrooms have been updated, one with a walk-in shower and one with a soaking tub. There are two king bedrooms, each with a Leesa Hospitality Sapira Cool Hybrid mattress — one of the same brands premium resorts use. The bedding is Parachute Hospitality luxury Percale cotton. The main-level king bedroom opens to a private lanai with views of the volcano and the tennis courts below. The upper- level king bedroom is the quieter of the two: ensuite bathroom, huge closets, and a private lanai with ocean and Mauna Loa views. The living room has a queen sofa bed, bringing total capacity to six guests comfortably, although we recommend 4 adults and 2 children or teenagers. Central air conditioning runs throughout, which is ideal for sleeping when the day time trade winds calm down. The internet is super fast with high-speed WiFi at 500+ Mbps, a 65" Smart TV, and an in-unit washer and dryer. Covered parking is included, dedicated to this unit, directly in front of the building. Check-in is via smartlock, no coordination required. Mike and Natalie are your hosts. Mike is a commercial airline pilot; Natalie is a licensed real estate agent. They've hosted more than 163 stays at a 4.96 rating and respond quickly - questions about the unit, the neighborhood, or which manta ray operator to book, they know the answers.
GUEST ACCESS Kanaloa at Kona is an 18-acre gated oceanfront resort, and Unit 2505 guests have full access to all of it. Three pools — each with its own hot tub — spread across the property: the oceanfront pool directly below your lanai, a family pool, and a quieter adults-only pool. Two lighted tennis and pickleball courts, a ping pong table, BBQ grills throughout the grounds, a common clubhouse, an outdoor shower, and direct coastline access. The resort fronts the water with no public road between you and the Pacific. Parking is covered, dedicated to your unit, and positioned right at the building entrance.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD Keauhou is a different part of Kona than what most visitors picture. This is the residential, low-density, quieter side of the coast — built around the resort corridor, the country club, and Keauhou Bay, without the foot traffic and noise of downtown Kailua-Kona. The pace is slower, theroads are uncrowded, and the neighborhood sits at the water's edge. It's not remote — you're 13 minutes from downtown when you want restaurants, the Saturday farmers market, Ali'i Drive, and the full Kailua-Kona lineup — but when you come back to Kanaloa, you feel the difference immediately. The anchor of the neighborhood is Keauhou Bay, directly across from the resort — one of the most reliable manta ray snorkeling sites in the world. Multiple operators depart from the bay nightly; you are literally two minutes from the dock. Kahalu'u Beach Park is 1.3 miles away: calm, shallow reef with turtles and tropical sh, consistently ranked among the best shore snorkeling on the island. Magic Sands Beach is a five-minute drive. For a longer day trip, the Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay is 15 minutes south: world-class snorkeling, spinner dolphins, and one of the most striking anchorages in Hawaii. Duke's Kona is opening at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa in late 2026, a 15-minute walk or short drive along the coast road — the 1st Duke's on Hawaii Island, iconic open-air oceanfront dining, and immediately the go-to dinner spot in Keauhou. Keauhou Shopping Center is a 15- minute walk: KTA Supermarket, Longs Drugs, restaurants, and a movie theater. The Kona trolley also stops there. Kona Country Club surrounds the resort on three sides, which is part of why the grounds stay so peaceful. In winter months — roughly December through April — humpback whales are visible from the lanai. Not occasionally: regularly. From the penthouse level, the sightlines are unobstructed.
