"It was an absolutely amazing stay at Uji Tea Inn. The owners are really friendly and welcoming. It’s as if I was staying with a host family rather than an inn. Throughout my stay, I felt looked after which was great as I was travelling alone. And while it may not be luxurious as a hotel chain, I enjoyed my stay here more than any of the 3 star hotels I stayed at for the rest of my travels. The rooms are traditional tatami mat and futon. "We had a lovely time here! We were travelling by public transport, and this spot is a little of out of the way, but they sent a shuttle to the train station and it was easy to arrive. It was not clear from their website that the restaurant would not be open for dinner, and the closest restaurant by foot (other than McDonald's) was a 30 minute walk away. That was no problem; we had a nice walk, a great dinner, and really loved the onsen!"
