Bears Rest - Authentic Mountain Experience

Come experience the wonders for yourself and stay with us at Bears Rest. You will love staying in this charming one bedroom, one bath cabin. It has everything you need for an authentic mountain experience!

The lodge inspired decor give this home a distinct mountain feel. The kitchen is furnished with a full size refrigerator, stove top and oven. We provide the cookware and cooking utensils, as well as flatware and dinnerware. There's a microwave and coffee maker, too. All you need to bring are the groceries! Spend time on the outdoor deck, relax and rest in your new home away from home. Please note that the wood stove is ornamental and not functional for burning wood.

Built to accommodate three, there is one queen bedroom with a twin size daybed. The cabin has central heat and air, cable television and ceiling fans. Bears Rest is equipped with an outdoor dining area, so you can even enjoy your meals outside as you take in the tranquility of the forest. If you like s'mores and toasted marshmallows, this cabin offers access to a community fire pit for your favorite campfire treats. After a long day of hiking, relax and enjoy the hot tub on the back deck.

From Bears Rest, you are in close proximity to a variety of sensational attractions. The popular town of Alpine Helen is only about 5 miles away. Modeled after a Bavarian Village, Helen provides a unique experience. While you're there, you can explore shops and galleries, restaurants and candy stores. If you time your visit just right, you can experience one of Helen's exciting annual festivals, like Oktoberfest. The cabin is located near Unicoi State Park, making it easy to discover the natural wonders of the region. From the park, you can take hikes on the many trails, cross over sparkling creeks and climb to see the tumbling waterfalls. Whether you are here for adventure, relaxation, or both, you're sure to have an amazing time!

This was a very cute cabin close to downtown helen but away enough so that it was quiet. We enjoyed the hottub and loved that we were able to grill and have a full kitchen to cook in. We will definitely be staying here again.

Cozy Retreat

This was a perfect escape to destress. Hot tub was nice. Fireplace was cozy. It was nice. The only real issue, was no oven mits, and only one steak knife. Everything else was just fine.

Bear’s Rest Cabin

The cabin overall was nice and comfortable. The only issue we had was that the tv did not work. It was replaced the day after I called. The hot tub was used once , but the clean filter/change water alert was on. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. We purchased firewood so we could enjoy a fire in the evening. We were close to a few parks, so we enjoyed hiking to see a couple of waterfalls and we went zip lining. The alpine town of Helen was close and very interesting to visit. We enjoyed walking around the town and experiencing the mountain coaster ride.

It’s an adorable property, clean, and the process of booking was painless, quick, and Sherry was on top of emails and calls. We were celebrating our honeymoon and even had a cute bottle of Prosecco and some silk pillowcases that was such a sweet gesture! There was also WiFi in the cabin which was an added bonus. We didn’t have any issues with our stay but Sherry still followed up with a courtesy call to make sure we were comfortable and to see if we needed anything. We will definitely be renting from Georgia Mountain Rentals again! We can’t wait to come back! Thank you Sherry and team! We appreciate it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a last-minute booking, the reservation agent was super helpful and kind. The main intent for the getaway was to relax in a hot tub and disconnect from the daily routine. To our surprise, the hot tub was not the cleanest, the water smelled like mold instead of disinfectant. I called the desk and they immediately sent someone who brought a new floater with disinfectant tablets (the one we found had no tablets inside). Of note, we had used this rental company in the past a few times and the hot tubs always smelled clean. The kitchen furniture was dated which did not bother me, but the shower was sparkling white! The cabin next door was pretty close, thankfully no one was there so we had some privacy getting in and out the hot tub. The other neighbor’s dog barked a lot, made me wonder if they were in vacation there or lived there, because that cabin had clutter around it, which made me feel a little unsafe. The city of Helen is minutes away with plenty of things to do and great restaurants.
