One word describes our wonderful barn experience.
One word describes our wonderful barn experience..Utopia! Excellent quiet location looking out over fields of sheep. Very attentive hosts there on site if you need them. Log burner was fab during the chilly November nights making for a very cosy experience...in fact so cosy we had to crack open a window on occasion. Kitchen so well equipped it was home from home as owners had thought of everything along with luxury bathrooms. It was spotless ...very tastefully decorated too. Thank you...we will return!
It was my 60th birthday and I wanted to do something special. It was very special. I had my daughter and her boyfriend round and a few friends. My husband and I also had time on our own, to sit and admire the special qualities of the lovingly restored barn.

The barn was beautiful and very well equipped.
The barn was beautiful and very well equipped. There were even board games provided to play and quite little hamper containing marmalade, biscuits, wine and milk in the fridge. The grounds were not huge but are very pretty.Me and my husband booked for our first family getaway away with our baby and dog. The barn was advertised as pet friendly but once we got there the information provided in the property said that dogs were not allowed on the furniture or upstairs. Our dog has always slept in our bedroom with us in his own bed and there was nothing to stop him going upstairs when we went to bed ourselves. We ended up having to make a gate with the dining room chairs. For us this may have swayed us to book somewhere else if the information was provided. As being in a new place can be confusing for a pet, especially when they are use to doing that stuff at home. The locks on the property were also not the easiest, it could be difficult opening the doors even if unlocked, this was a little worrying if you needed to get out of the building quickly for safety reasons. The entrance gate was also very temperamental. Overall a lovely stay just need to get the entrance gate and door locks working better.
Loved every minute of our stay and recommend to all 😁

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Chilsham Barn. The owners were friendly and helpful.
The barn had everything we needed and was spotless. The location is very peaceful and it was lovely to see the animals plus the bonus of regular visits by one of the peacocks. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival. Highly recommend.

We booked this last minute as we wanted to have a secluded place to relax after Covid-19.
We booked this last minute as we wanted to have a secluded place to relax after Covid-19. This place did not disappoint. The views and location are spectacular and very relaxing. Except the owners next door the place is deserted and private. Our daughters loved the garden and being able to pick apples and pears in the orchard. The place is very safe and secure to let children have freedom close to the barn- there is a large pond in the distance to ensure children do not go near. Our children loved being surround by sheep and peacocks giving them a new and thrilling experience of the countryside.
The property itself is wonderful and very rustic. It has been refurbished and converted it a very high standard. The open living space in the living area is beautiful with full length windows giving it an open and refreshing feel.
The kitchen is lovely and is well equipped for the small space, I do feel the placing of things in the kitchen is not practical and could do with more thought to make it more convenient to use. The kitchen is well stocked and a lovely basic care package for arrival makes transitioning to holiday mode even easier.
The living room is beautiful but it could improved with a new sofa. The sofa is not very comfortable and does not make it easy to relax at night. The space is so vast that a corner sofa would be perfect to finish off this lovely open space. The same could be said for the dining table. It's basic which is what you née for eating at but again it's not comfortable to sit and have a glass of wine at in the evening.
The open staircase really sets of the beauty of the conversion. Bedrooms at either end, both ensuite. Our children loved their bedroom with their own bathroom which is finished to a great standard and is very clean. They loved the soft, comfy cosy beds! It feels like a rustic barn which is what you want. The master room is also lovely... Wouldn't mind a king size bed in there for comfort but the bed as it is is comfy and has stunning views across the fields.
The property for a secluded family holiday was perfect and I wouldn't hesitate in booking again. A few improvements could be made for comfort and relaxation but that in itself wouldn't put me off booking the property again.
It's about 20 minute drive from the nearest beach and for most restaurants it is a similar drive.

We had a lovely stay at this beautifully restored barn.
We had a lovely stay at this beautifully restored barn. It is very comfortable and very well equipped situated in attractive grounds (complete with roaming well behaved peacock) quite a distance (especially in the dark at night!!) down a one track country lane. It is an excellent base to explore a diverse range of sights and places from the delights of Great Dixter to the shingle of Dungeness to the homes of Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell. Throw in the Birling Gap and Beachy Head, the Pavilion at Bexhill and the wonderful farm shops and wineries and you have the recipe for a fabulous week. There are shops in the village and the nearby Bull's Head is worth a visit for Sunday lunch.
It's a gorgeous barn with very helpful owners and is thoroughly recommended.

lovely barn, spacious and very clean.
lovely barn, spacious and very clean. Nice kitchen, bathrooms and open lounge/dining area. Lovely high beamed ceilings. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Lovely hamper of goodies which was very welcoming. For us the sofas are quite uncomfortable even though they looked very new. The bedrooms were great but, again for us the beds are too soft. But others may like that!

We spent a midweek at Chilsham Barn during the Easter holidays. It's a very beautiful and comfortable barn conversion in very peaceful and quiet surroundings. The barn is very well equipped, with an eye for detail. There are two bathrooms, which made it excellent for a couple and two children. The hosts made us feel very welcome. There were Easter decorations and a welcome basket. We highly recommend Chilsham Barn for a stay in the beautiful South.

The barn is very nice and very close to the owners property.
The barn is very nice and very close to the owners property. It is nice and comfortable but for us the bed mattresses were far too soft.
There are some nice pubs and restaurants in the local village but we felt that they were too far away to walk, especially, as the lane to the village is very narrow and unlit.
Apart from the above we had a good time, the property has all mod cons and is light and airy.
