The Cider Press, countryside romantic cottage with hot tub
Nestled by a charming stream, this one-bedroom cottage is a cosy and comfortable cottage to retreat to and relax. It features a log-burning stove, dishwasher, washer dryer and elegant decor. With a wood burning hot tub, you can relax and in the evenings watch the stars above the canopy of the trees. In an idyllic spot with luxurious high-quality fittings, a very comfortable bed. A truly picturesque and peaceful retreat.
There should be everything you need for a cosy and relaxing home away from home, coffee machine, oven, hob, microwave and a smart TV. We are dog lovers and with 10 acres of private woodlands, we are as much fun for your furry friend as we are a relaxing getaway for you. Located between Gloucester on Ross-on-Wye, and 25 mins from Cheltenham. Value for money We provide all firewood for the log burner in the cottage and the hot tub, milk, tea and coffee pods, sugar and some individual butters and olive oil. You'll find Molton Brown hand soap in the bathroom and high quality shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the shower. The bedding is Egyptian cotton and 'feels like down' although it is hypoallergenic. The bedroom furnishings are Willis and Gambier solid cherry. Places to eat There are some great places to eat nearby, a personal favourite is the Glasshouse in Glasshouse, my husbands favourite is the Red Hart in Blaisdon and in walking distance is the Red Lion Inn in Huntley which does pub favourites and a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Other popular choices include: The Farmers Boy in Longhope, popular for its range of hearty pies, The Yew Tree. Food can be ordered online from a small number of locations, however if a take away is of interest to you, the local shop carries the COOK range of high end ready meals and on a Thursday evening there is often a mobile Pizza take away at the Local store and a fish and chip van on occasion at the Village Hall. Places to visit On the outskirts of the beautiful Forest of Dean, there are many woodlands to explore, with 10 acres of private woodland literally on the doorstep these woods extend into Huntley Hill woods, and then Brights Hill woods just opposite. Both are special and there are some hidden surprises in Huntley Hill woods and geological features, like the Blaisdon fault and quarries in Brights Hill woods. We also strongly recommend a walk up the majestic May Hill, steeped in tradition and folklore, May Hill also gives spectacular views over the beautiful Cotswolds and a walk down through woodlands. About 25 minutes from Regency Cheltenham, and historic Gloucester, 10 minutes from Ross-on-Wye, and if you fancy trying your hand at Clay Pidgeon shooting, fishing or horse riding there are places nearby to try out. The market town of Newent is only four miles away and has a range of interesting and quirky shops as well as some little cafes to get a nice breakfast or lunch, as well as some restaurant choices for dinner. On Friday there is a market selling local produce and home made gifts. Very close to the Cider Press, within walking distance is Leaf Creative garden centre, although calling it a garden centre feels almost like doing it a disservice as it is so much more besides, it has a cafe and farm shop and a spectacular range of exotic and beautiful plants and trees, worth visiting and enjoying as a trip in itself. Getting around There are plenty of walks nearby, and the local pub and Leaf Creative can be reached on foot, though we urge guests to bring wellies and use the public footpaths over fields to reach the footpath on the A40. There are buses from Huntley into Cheltenham and Gloucester, as well as to Coleford, Mitcheldean and Cinderford, but the bus service isn't as regular as buses in more populated areas though careful planning is a must. Newent has taxi services that can be called.
