About this property

Podsmead Road, Gloucester Group Home with Games Room

  • Summary:

Five bedrooms, three bathrooms and room for up to twelve: a king room, a double room, two twin rooms, a room with three single beds, and a sofa bed in the lounge. The bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs, with a family bathroom and two en suite shower rooms. On the ground floor are a lounge, a dining room for the whole group and a big kitchen; there's also a games room with table football and an arcade machine, and a large back garden. Gloucester Quays is about 24 minutes on foot.

    The Space:

    Sleeping

Bedroom 1: UK king-size bed, 150 cm wide (about the size of a US queen), with an en suite shower room.

Bedroom 2: UK double bed, 135 cm wide (about a US full).

    Bedroom 3: two single beds.

    Bedroom 4: two single beds.

Bedroom 5: three single beds, with an en suite shower room.

    Lounge: a sofa bed.

Two single beds can be joined as a super king if you ask when booking. Hotel-quality linen and towels are ready for all twelve, with spare pillows and blankets and room-darkening blinds.

    Bathrooms

Three in total, all upstairs: a family bathroom with a large bath, and the en suite shower rooms of Bedrooms 1 and 5.

    Kitchen and dining

Oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker, with large pans for group cooking and a breakfast bar. The separate dining room seats everyone together.

    Living and games

A lounge with plenty of sofas and a large TV. The games room has table football and a Street Fighter arcade machine, and there are board games and children's toys in the house.

    Outside

A large back garden with outdoor seating and a rope swing.

    Everyday practicals

Wi-Fi, a desk, an iron, and a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility outhouse just outside the kitchen door.

    Travelling with children

Children of all ages are welcome, and the rope swing and games room are big favourites. All the bedrooms are upstairs. There is no cot at the moment; please bring a travel cot if you need one.

    Bringing your dog

Up to three dogs are welcome, and a pet fee applies. The garden fence isn't fully dog-proof, so please keep an eye on them outside; there's a park a short walk away.

    Good to know

The water pressure falls if all three showers run together, so a busy morning goes better with showers staggered. In cold weather the heating needs a little time to warm such a big house.

    Guest Access:

The whole house is yours. Self check-in is by lockbox from 4 pm, with the last arrivals at 9 pm, and departure is by 11 am. The drive takes two or three cars, and parking on the street outside is free.

    The Neighborhood:

Podsmead is a residential area to the south of the city centre, with shops and a park within walking distance. On foot: Gloucester Quays (outlet shopping, restaurants and the waterfront) about 24 minutes, the historic docks 31 and Robinswood Hill 33. By car: Gloucester Cathedral 7 minutes, Kingsholm Stadium 8, Cheltenham Promenade 19 and Cheltenham Racecourse 26. The Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean are both within reach for family days out.

    Getting Around:

Gloucester station is about 6 minutes by car. The M5 runs to the east of the city, and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital is about 7 minutes' drive and Gloucester Business Park 12.

    Other Things to Note:

ID check and deposit: after booking, the lead guest completes a short ID check and deposit step with our partner SafeGuest. You choose either a Damage Deposit of £350 (your card is saved and nothing is taken up front; it can only be charged for a claim SafeGuest approves after check-out) or SafeGuest's No Deposit fee of £40 (a one-off fee paid to SafeGuest). If you can't use the photo ID check, message us and we'll arrange a short video call instead. Please don't send ID documents by email. Your booking is on the Blue Puffin Stays Booking Terms (Guests) and the House Rules for this home.

Arrivals after 9 pm aren't possible, as that is when self check-in closes.

Rooms were spacious, especially the bedrooms. Games room was a delight. Kitchen was well stocked and items were very new. Well proportioned house. Nice house. Garden could welcome a bit of TLC - hedges could do with a trim and just a bit of gardening in general to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the house. The garden table was nice and big but the garden chairs were old and lots of fluff transferred onto our clothes which was disappointing as were spent all the time outside due to the weather. After communicating with the owner, we took disposable BBQs and sun parasols which was great but a BBQ, parasol and bag of coals would be a welcome addition for future guests on hot and sunning stays.
