Westwind - Waterfront Retreat: Secluded lodges perfect for nature lovers

The Waterfront Retreat, one of East Gippsland’s best-kept secrets, offers a tranquil escape on 20 acres of natural bushland along the banks of Lake Victoria. With 19 self-contained lodges ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, guests can enjoy lake or bushland views while catering for themselves in fully equipped kitchens. Just 15 minutes from Paynesville and 20 minutes from Bairnsdale, this peaceful haven is perfect for nature lovers, complete with a resident mob of friendly kangaroos.

Tarra and Westwind are special, spacious two-bedroom, one-bathroom lodges with lofts. Each sleeps up to six people and offers a master bedroom with a queen bed, a second bedroom with two single beds, and a loft with two single beds that is accessed by a steep ladder (recommended for kids 7 and up or small adults).

Our loft lodges are fully furnished, with high, airy ceilings and huge windows for an uninterrupted view of the water and natural bush around the lodge. Each lodge comes with a kitchen equipped with basic cookware and dishes, as well as a microwave, stove and dishwasher. Your private deck, with an outdoor dining table and BBQ, faces the lake, offering a relaxing view of the waterfront as you eat, cook, or just unwind.

Watch and feed native animal life right outside your lodge, including kangaroos and parrots, or go fishing, kayaking, or paddleboarding on the lake right outside your door. We offer free use of pushbikes, which you can use to explore the trails or bike to the heated outdoor spa. In the winter, cozy up to a wood-burning fireplace or take a dip in the heated indoor pool.
