"We booked in for two nights to attend a local wedding. The hotel was in a great location right next to the station and about a 15 minute walk down to the seaside. The rooms however, were quite frankly, bad. There were multiple mysterious stains on the carpet, the bedding felt cheap, and the bathroom was horrendous. There was no door to the shower, and the curtain only came about halfway to the top of the tub so the bathroom flooded when we showered. We also were only given two towels the first night, which was difficult. The leather headboard on our bed was cracked and peeling. This didn't bother us much, but the room overlooked the railroad tracks and we did hear trains all night. Overall, the hotel felt tired, and very much not worth the 651 quid we paid for two nights."
"I really enjoyed this hotel and the bar area and the staff were excellent. No air con but fine for me. They gave me a room with a step shower but the bathroom had no grab handles so difficult for me. Silly because for very little money it could have been much better. Good breakfast and very good value for money . Room 133"
"Stayed as I was running in Brighton and have stayed at a Malmaison before. However, apart from the check-in it was all a bit meh. Room was a bit small balcony was tiny, and the door was hard to operate. Restaurant was all a bit odd and hard to work out where it was and whether it was open, and breakfast was missed as it stopped at 10:30 on Sunday (rather than 11:00 advertised on the website). Reception was in an odd place and reception didn’t answer our calls on Sunday morning. So all a bit expensive for what you get."
"Dear Sir/Madam,
The hotel was advertised online with attractive photographs and descriptions of high-quality accommodation; however, our experience upon arrival on 13 May was extremely disappointing and far below the standard advertised.
Firstly, there was no disabled access available and no lift access to any of the rooms, which was not made clear at the time of booking. Upon entering the hotel, we were met with ongoing renovation work, including decorating covers throughout the foyer area. There was no visible reception desk or bar as advertised. When we questioned a member of staff about the work being carried out, we were informed that the renovations had started that very day. None of this information had been disclosed on the hotel’s website or booking page prior to our arrival.
In addition, there was a strong cannabis smell coming from the room next to ours, which appeared to have been covered up with air freshener or spray before we were shown to our room.
Although parts of the room itself appeared acceptable, the bathroom facilities were not. The showerhead was damaged, with multiple holes causing water to spray and leak everywhere, making it impossible to have a proper shower.
Furthermore, when my wife requested that the heating be turned on, the request was refused without any attempt being made to investigate or resolve the issue.
Ov"
"Very clean, comfortable and spacious room. We had king room with sofa bed with sea view. Got a paid upgrade when we got to hotel which was not expensive. Lovely breakfast too which set us up for the day."
