We were in town for a wedding. Location is close to downtown, river and everything you need. Owners were friendly and responsive to questions or needs. The room was clean and had everything we wanted.

Mike & Kathleen's place is wonderful! It is one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. They have thought things through, down to many little details, which helped make our stay very enjoyable. The sheets were absolutely amazing! If we ever get back to this neat little small town, we will most certainly book at Goldfinch Suites! Thank you for being great hosts, Mike & Kathleen!

Perfect Stay

What a gem-of-a-find … my daughter and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Goldfinch Suites. Mike & Kathleen were very accommodating and great hosts ~ thank you! We were impressed with the cleanliness of our room and it had every amenity … plush furnishings of the highest quality. Bed was comfortable; huge large-screen tv. Right in the heart of downtown places yet quiet. One thing to be aware of is the stairs (to get to your room); I appreciated the hand-railing and it was definitely manageable. I’d give the Goldfinch B&B five stars! The downstairs cafe is a definite plus, too ~ great food and so handy. I’d highly recommend and want to return.

Need a place in or near Elkader? BOOK THIS PROPERTY!

We found this wonderful place via search when traveling for a special dinner at Elkader's Schera's Restaurant. SO much to appreciate here! Some highlights include: 1) A stunning mix of modern craftsmanship and historical appreciation in the beautiful suite (we stayed in suite 1). 2) Warm and friendly owners who make you feel so welcome and clearly explain everything. 3) A comfy bed and nice shades and curtains that keep the holiday light glare out. 4) The sheer size of the nice bath towels is a treat. If you like a little orientation in a new place, I recommend the nightlight in the bathroom. It's just right for that purpose. 5) Tasty Icelandic bottled water. 6) An outstanding breakfast in the cool store on the main level. Although I am not a coffee drinker, my husband said the store-roasted coffee was top notch.

Quiet getaway

Came to Elkader for a quiet stay, not disappointed. Katherine and Michael were excellent hosts, unit 1 exceptionally clean and cozy. Hotel quality linens, modern unit with homey touches. Loved Michael’s breakfast in the morning. Ate dinner at St. Olaf Tavern, would recommend, short drive from Elkader. One block to Turkey River, nice areas to sit along the river. Elkader has other good restaurant options right in town.

Our room was a large suite, which is more than we expected. It was beautifully renovated. Mike and Kathleen where wonderful. Elkader is such a nice, small town with lots of energy. We highly recommend the Goldfinch Inn!

Incredible Experience on Main Street in Elkader

My friend and I had the privilege of being the first guests at Mike & Kathleen's VRBO listing. The accommodations were incredible. Some noteworthy experiences include: 1. The apartment is right off of main street, within walking distance of all attractions downtown Elkader has to offer. 2. The apartment was completely renovated. All construction was modern and new. 3. The apartment is extremely quiet! Even with live music and happenings right off of main, noise was never an issue. 4. This listing is right above Gear Elkader, an amazing shop that serves breakfast and coffee. This shop also has a lot of really awesome coffee/outdoor products! 5. Mike and Kathleen are incredible hosts. You can tell they take a significant amount of pride in their business to truly make your experience memorable. No doubt, if I ever plan to head back to Elkader for a weekend, this is 100% the spot I plan to book. Thank you so much for having me as a guest, Mike and Kathleen!
