Amazing Lakeside hot tub, A-frame 3 King Beds, Shawnee Forest sleeps 2-6 Firepit
10/10 Excellent
"The property is beautiful as well as the house. The property has enough trees for shade, it's i.e, not so heavily wooded that it's isolating. The owners and another family are close by and really helpful when we texted with a question. The hot tub is completely private and lit in the evening with soft lighting :). The grill is in the same area. The fire pit is on the other side by the dock. We woke early our last day to sit on the dock and watch the sunrise. The house … is oh so uniquely charming with a front and a side deck!!!!!! Each room is tastefully decorated and curated for a happy, fun, and welcome experience. Everything is stocked, easy to find, with house directions and suggestions for outings printed in a welcome binder, The town of Anna is 5 minutes away where we went to the Farmstead for hot/cold sandwiches with lots of delicious homemade amish selections/option for takeaway. We went to the newly opened HubBarn, a repurposed grocery store, that had 60 booths of new and thrift items - a real treasure. We will certainly be coming back to hike the beautiful sacred land of the Shawnee National Forest."

Peaceful secluded cabin located near Horseshoe Lake
8/10 Good
"I booked this cabin for a getaway for two adults and two dogs who don't like other dogs, and it was the perfect location for that. There are no other cabins within sight or within earshot, the road that runs by the cabin is quiet, and there's a park that's similarly very quiet about a 5-minute drive away. Check in was smooth and the cabin is very cute. The facilities, especially the shower, are pretty basic, but everything worked. The cabin is small, but comfortable for two people. There's AC and heating, so the temperature was comfortable. My notes are less a critique of the cabin, and more things to know: The water smells like rotten eggs, to the point where the entire bathroom stank after a shower. My dogs happily drank the tap water, so it seems safe - the area is marshy, so I suspect that explains the smell. If you're sensitive to smells, this might be a challenge. This is woods in the southern Midwest, so mosquitoes were out in force, and my dogs were covered in sticky pricklies the second they left the (nicely!) mowed area of the cabin - again, nothing to do with the cabin, just the reality of the area, and it meant we didn't spend a ton of time outside near the cabin. I might be interested in revisiting during a colder time of year when bugs and plants are dormant. I recommend bringing your own dry firewood because it's humid so any wood at the site might not burn very easily."

"I had only two issues:We had to go over to the neighbors to get the Wi-Fi password, it should be displayed in the property. Also, partly on us is there was no stove/oven. We brought food from Louisiana and were not able to prepare it. I would suggest having an electric hot plate or griddle for hamburgers and breakfast items."
Secluded, Log Rental Cabin, Private Hot Tub,on Southern Illinois Wine Trail
10/10 Excellent
"Quiet, peaceful, and endless cows next door. We loved the place. One note: the hottub was foaming a lot. I’m thinking this might have been a chemical reaction. By Thursday morning it had dissipated. Very convenient to the hiking trails."
