Southern Palms Beach Resort
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay at southern palms resort was nothing short of amazing! The resort is beautiful with big pools and is located right at the beach front. Our room was big and spacious always kept neat by our lovely housekeeper Veronica. The staff at the hotel are such lovely genuine people. Everyone made us feel right at home, starting from the manager daisy who even gave us her personal contact to call her if we needed anything at any time. Elisha the bartender at the beach bar kept our drinks flowing and made sure to have conversation with each person sitting at the bar. The food was fantastic. I must recommend the bbq restaurant which had a wide selection for us meat lovers.
I will definitely visit again soon!"
"Enjoyed my stay. The staff is pleasant and makes the experience superb. There are vendors that solicit once you step off the lodge and onto the beach. The staff does a terrific job of maintaining the privacy when on the property.
You will see monkeys, who are approachable for photos, but please do not feed, as they will take this as an invitation to grab all of your food. The monkeys are not intrusive and the staff are ready to shooo the monkeys away, but of you feed them, then you have extended the invitation for them to take your food.
Explore the city on a tuk tuk, and enjoy the local culture. While there, I experienced their famous barbershop service which includes a face massage, neck massage and hair wash.
Enjoy your stay, sleep well. The bed was fabulous with a thick mosquito net. I didn’t experience many mosquitoes, I was there in early September.
As with any all-inclusive, the menu begins to repeat, but I was there for 12 days. The food was delicious.
I plan on returning again. "
"🌴 A Destination in Itself – Beautiful Design, Great AC, a True “Wow” Hotel
Arrival & First Impressions
On arrival, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink called Dawa Sawa (lime juice, honey, and soda – 550 KES). It was so good I ordered it several times during our stay. We also received a helpful briefing and tour of the property, which immediately set the tone for a special experience.
Architecture & Atmosphere
Swahili Beach Resort is truly a destination in itself. Designed in the 1970s by Polish-born architect Zbigniew Trzebinski and Slovakian Tibor Gaal, the property is a stunning showcase of coastal design and remains one of the most impressive resorts on the Kenyan coast. Photos and videos simply don’t do it justice – this is a genuine “wow” hotel.
Rooms & Rates
I paid $2,390 through Expedia for three nights in two king rooms (#115 & #116). Rooms are spacious, with mosquito netting, strong Wi-Fi, and excellent air conditioning. Views are limited due to lush mature vegetation, but that greenery adds to the tropical setting (and keeps mischievous monkeys nearby – keep balcony doors closed!).
Bathrooms feature powerful rain showers with strong water pressure (caution: hot water runs very hot). Tuk-tuks are available right outside the resort, and there’s a complimentary shuttle to Diani Airport.
Dining
Food here was the best we had during our 10 days in Kenya. The resort offers both half-board and full-board options across four restaurants."
"This all inclusive resort provided all the amenities to relax after our safari and more! Highly rated cleanliness, beautifully decorated, offering multiple activities for adults & children it also maintained our safety within its gated walls. Though we walked few streets during the day without any incident. Street vendors promote their businesses but no issues."
"The hotel is a walkable distance to the spice market and the old town. The staff was incredible, the room was spacious and the pool area was great for breakfast or to just relax. Special thanks to Laureen and Fahad"
"Great clean well kept hotel with water views, monkeys climbing on the balcony, walking distance to grocery and shopping. The restaurant was great, well staffed and friendly all around. This was my 5th hotel on my trip to Kenya and the best overall. It was right on the bridge so transportation was easy as walking outside. I extended my stay."
