Overall a nice experience. A couple of observations though: the room sevice breakfast was cold and you needed to call and ask for butter for your toast. For a 5 star establiahment, it should be a given and provided with your breakfast including a selection of jams, jellies or spreads . Another criticism is that different staff constantly asked if everythjng was okay every few minutes while i was having dinner in the tea rooms. This became very annoying. Also, 2 different wait staff asked for my order at dinner and i did not receive what i ordered for desert Also, coffee which was requested and on the bill was not provided so there are a few issues with staff. There should be one staff member attending to a tables needs, not multiple, and dont interupt every few minutes. Some discretion is needed and a query at the end of the meal is sufficint. This showed a rather disrespectful and juvenile approach. Other than that, everything else was okay, though i had to aak for water several times in the room. I would have thought that this should be provided. One 400ml bottle was rather skimpy. Other establishments i have stayed at have not charged for additional water. My only other criticism would be that there was no one to show you to your room and the hotel is rather a rabbit warren. The gym and pool facilities are also a distance from the hotel acroas a road which i found strange. For one of the top hotels in Canberra, there is definately room for improvment

Again mu only issue is being abruptly awoken by earthworks and construction aroun the hotel.

Issues with the internet, tv is connected to a secret wifi that guests cannot access, has to logged in by staff who have to enter the password manually in the room.

Rydges Canberra is older than the other hotels near the national circuit. The fitness centre is in very poor condition and is decades old with some of the machines in broken state. The rooms are a mix of updated fixtures and run-down furniture. The room I stayed in had a coffee table that was so wobbly that I could not place a drink on it for fear of it falling over. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom amenities were good, but there was mild visible in the shower tiles and floor.

The staff were helpful and nice. The room was in average condition, the bathroom and kitchen in sore need of an update with a temperamental shower. I stayed in an executive apartment which was spacious and airy with a balcony. It was expensive for the quality of accomodation. The area is very convenient with plenty of bars and restaurants but with single glazing the property is not for the light sleeper.
