Stunning Period Farmhouse in Rural Setting

Dating from 1762, this beautiful stone cottage is full of period features, beamed ceilings and a huge inglenook fireplace. Lovely rural hillside location in a courtyard setting, 2 miles from the main road along a country lane, but only 9 miles from Ruthin. Enjoy the lovely private garden, watch the birds or stargaze at night whilst sharing a bottle of wine in the 'Piggery'.
Perfectly placed for all that North Wales has to offer.
Great for couples, adventurers, families and dogs.
Car essential.
The space
Within easy reach of all major attractions in North Wales including Snowdonia National Park, The Berwyn mountains and Bounce Below. Pretty market towns of Ruthin, Bala and Llangollen are within half an hour.
The stunning coast line of North Wales and Anglesey are within 1 1/2 hours. Alternatively, stay close to the house and enjoy the stunning views! Sit in the garden or summer house or just relax in front of a roaring fire. Watch the huge variety of birds swoop down to the numerous bird feeders in the courtyard. There is no light pollution which results in spectacular night skies.
Guest access
Sole access to the 2 bedroomed house along with the adjoining garden and summer house. Ample parking available.
Other things to note
Due to the age of the property, some floors are uneven. The stairs are also uneven and steep. This may cause difficulties for less-abled guests.
A 7kW EV charger is available for guests to use. Energy used will be charged at a fraction over our provider's rate at the time of use. (Currently 30p per kWH but this may change).
Highchair and stairgate available on request.
young children require supervision on and around the staircase.
NB The main bed is actually a super-king sized bed but Vrbo don't have that on their list!!
Out of respect for our neighbours, we ask for no noise after 10pm

Very relaxing and quiet.
We only had a very short stay but found the property to be a beautiful old farmhouse with fantastic old features, lovely open fire with plenty of logs and character. Old worn stairs, exposed wooden beams and not a right angle in the place ! Nice and quiet and well out the way. Doggy was very welcome as well.

Will definitely be back!
We loved this cottage-the location, the historical details throughout, and especially the huge stone hearth for fires on cold nights. The host was very friendly, met us at check in and provided some welcome supplies/goodies. Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous stay here. The dogs loved the garden and the log fires. The Piggery was very pretty and lit with fairy lights at night. Everything we needed.

Outstanding
An absolutely beautiful, historic cottage in a lovely rural setting. Much better in real life than the photos, each room has a wow factor. The large country garden with pots of pretty flowers, are all an extension of 'The Farmhouse' that include two summer houses. One for the children, and one for the family where there is a bbq. All this is enclosed and is just for you to use throughout your stay, which helps to make your holiday more relaxed and to enjoy. There is a bird table just outside the gate, that you can fill with food** if you like. You can observe the many graceful birds from the dining room window, using binoculars ** including Woodpeckers which I'd never seen before. Jennie and Keith, the owners are wonderful, friendly hosts who are there if you need them. They are very likeable people and have two happy dogs. They never encroach in your space/holiday, which was one of our fears when we realised they lived next door. You hardly know they are there, unless of course, you contact them. On arriving, there was a bowl of goodies and a bottle of wine which was a lovely touch, even tea & coffee was provided! ‘The Farmhouse’ is brimming with little extras that make the holiday extra special and easier. A welcome book that has information about the wi-fi, surrounding area with directions.** We made use of this a couple of times, to go for a walk and visit a local village. Also, there is a folder full of leaflets/information about North Wales, and places to go, which is very helpful. The very narrow roads leading up to this gem of a cottage, could sometimes be a little harrowing if another vehicle was coming the other way, as one of you has to reverse into a small recess to allow the other to pass. This was a small price to pay though, for such an idealistic place to stay. We didn’t want to leave! And we’ll be back next year!! *Provided by the owner **It would be advantageous to know where the food shops are located.

This is an amazing little farmhouse cottage in a peaceful location; a rural idyll full of homely comforts and delights, with all the amenities you could want and more (including fast wifi). Denise, the owner, was welcoming and friendly before and during our 4 night stay. Just be warned, if you are tall; the doorways of this 18th century farmhouse are very low and require careful negotiation :-)

A bit of heaven. A lovely period farmhouse in a stunning setting.
It is set high among hills in lovely countryside. The period features of the farmhouse have been lovingly preserved but it is fully equipped for modern living. It is roomy, comfortable with lovely features like the laden Welsh dresser and the old family photographs and special touches like the vase of flowers on the dining table and the carved wooden napkin rings in a drawer. The garden is extensive and beautifully kept. The owners Jennie and Keith are delightful, helpful and not intrusive. We will surely go again.
