"The room was clean enough, staff were ok. They were pet friendly as far as pets were allowed in, but I was shocked to have to pay £20 per night for my small dog! They said it was “all the extra cleaning”!? Breakfast better on day 2. "

"A beautiful, brand new self catering apartment. Was so clean and perfect we felt proud of it ourselves and wanted to ensure we kept it as lovely as it was when we arrived! Helpful instructions, friendly owners (brief interaction, very friendly but not overbearing in any way), amazing view. Definitely recommend."

"Apparently the management had very recently taken over the tenancy which according to the manager was left in a dilapidated state. There were cheap air fresheners all over the establishment. We asked them to be removed, but the smell was impregnated and we had to have the windows open the whole time, which was not great as the heating did not work and a small fan heater was supplied and was totally inefficient. We were asked what time would we like breakfast and when we went down the place was in darkness. We and other guest waited almost an hour when we had to leave. I have never ever had this experience before. I had some health problems as did a collegue as we both had water from the tap. Which may not have been related to the Black Swan"

"Actually that wasn't great. Our dogs are used to grass which there was a small lawn at the front but we had to oversee them as it wasn't secure Our suggestion would be desperately needs a gate which would be great"

"This was our 2nd visit to Foal Barn Cottages, staying at the Smithy... We had another amazing week 22/07 - 29/07. Both Leigh and Sue are friendly and more than helpful. "Cottage was just as described and perfect for the two of us. Lovely kitchen with everything we needed and the bedroom and bed were exceptional. Vida and Tim were wonderful hosts, unintrysive but always available. Lovely family too. They even provided great weather. We found the location the perfect gateway to the dales and surrounding areas. Cannot wait to go back. We know where we will be staying that is for sure"
