We had 3 wonderful days stay at Christchurch after our road trip around the South Island, the house is clean and spacious with everything you need. It's walkable to the city centre or a 5 mins drive, there's a nice little cafe just around the corner for the morning coffee and pastries. There are plenty of parkings just outside the hours. We were mostly out and about during the day, the constructions didn't bother us.
The unit was spacious, however the bed in the alcove was awkward to get in & out of and also to make every morning (so we didn't bother) We thought there were 2 actual bathrooms, however we found out there was only 1 bathroom (there was another separate toilet and hand basin) There were lots of plates & cups, however nothing was matching. The tv had a weird wrapper on it so we gave up watching that. We were asked to keep the gate locked, however we didn't as that would have been a problem if we had a fire and couldn't get out. On our last night the people in the unit next door were loud & wouldn't stop talking and kept laughing really loud. It was around 12.45am I finally banged on the wall to tell them to be quiet. It took another 15 minutes for them to finally stop and get to bed. The property is a good 20 minute walk from the shops, bus stop around the corner. The conservatory was great for drying washing.
The host made it clear about quiet times and no door on the second bedroom (just a curtain) all good for us :)But we could hear the person staying in unit A and I’m sure they could hear us. They didn’t have their tv on too loud at all, but could still hear it clearly from unit B. There is only an internal door and 2 curtains separating the units. My suggestion would be to at least hang an external door as they’re much thicker and also some sound absorbing panels that can be removed if the host wants to turn it back into one house again. Other than that the unit is spacious and clean.Good WiFi and a very big tv (although it still had the “clear” plastic screen protector from the factory on it ?) Good location and luckily there were no builders at the development site next door during our stay in end Oct 25.

CNZ house is well located. Unit B is spacious, well equipped, fresh, clean, warm and very comfortable. The large conservatory room is a bonus when the sun is out, with table and seating at one end, and as a drying room with excellent clothes airers at the other end. My husband enjoyed the super sized TV in the lounge area. The kitchen has plenty of storage, and all you need to cook with. A lot can be stored in the large fridge freezer. The laundry, just off the kitchen, has a butler pantry setup, with microwave. The washing machine and clothes dryer complete this room. The master bedroom has a large ensuite. The shower is great and there is good storage under the sink unit. Apart from the ensuite toilet there is another toilet room with a vanity, off the hallway, which is a great bonus. The beds were warm and comfortable. We stayed a week in Unit B. Clark, the owner, communicated well and responded promptly to our requests. We ended up having 2 grandchildren, ages 5 and 10 years, stay for 2 nights. They loved the space to play in and enjoyed the nearby park. There is some building going on next door and across the road from CNZ house, so a little noise during the day, however it is quiet after the builders go. With another unit at the back there is “Quiet time” from 9pm to 7am. Very restful and snug inside at night. A home away from home. We would stay again.
