Everything was just as listed, clean and nicely appointed. The hosts were very prompt, warm and welcoming! Unfortunately, due to weather and schedule constraints for the wedding we were there for, we did not get to fully enjoy all of the many amenities, but we did get to enjoy the big screen movie while floating around the pool, which was definitely unique! We enjoyed the fact that everyone had a place to retreat to and we weren't on top of each other the whole weekend. Hopefully we will have another chance to come back and enjoy the rest of the property!

This was a terrific property! The house was great and the property was very peaceful and fun. The house offered so much entertainment (games, pool table, dart board, etc.), we wish we had stayed longer. In addition, it had a wonderful heated pool with waterfall and a separate hot tub. To make things even better, the owner was quick to respond to any messages. We really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend it!

We spent most of our time in the pool & hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed. This is our third stay at the retreat. The darn drought caused the pond to be dry but I'm sure it will come back when Texas gets some rain.

Property was very nice and as described. Amenities were abundant and the pool w/waterfall was a hit! Outdoor movie screen was well enjoyed. Golf cart provided entertainment for teenager and was a great perk to have. Hot tub was loved by all! Indoors was supercozy and beds are soooo comfortable! Bathtub was well loved to wind down fron the day. Hosts were very helpful and friendly explaining how to utilize/function the amenities. We are talking about making this a yearly visit, we all loved it. Thank you!

Check in was super easy. Property was as advertised. Amenities were beyond great. Hershel & Becky were terrific hosts. The kitchen was equipped with any and everything you would ever need. The house & property were very clean. The pool was a definite highlight of this property. The outdoor kitchen with the sink, ice maker & refrigerator was a great added touch. First off, amazing property! We stay at multiple Vrbo houses each year and I can definitely say this was on the top of everyone’s list to return back. The house and all is very well equipped and CLEAN! Cleanliness is top of our priority list if that helps anyone. The pool was 100% crystal clear, I was shocked to be honest how clear it was. Everything was well stocked and planned out. It looks like someone took their time in making sure every angle was covered for guest enjoyment. All the speaker systems were very convenient. The huge stack of pool towels and toy bin at the back door made it so much easier with the kids! Projector is a bit old but got the job done. There was a big wasp nest under the pavilion but that can be expected in Texas. Herschel gave us a run through of all the technology in the house/patio/pool when we arrived. Very hospitable and thorough. Appreciate the attention to detail! Thanks again and see you next time!

Summer Getaway

The stay was absolutely wonderful. The pool was an oasis in the Texas mid-July heat. The rest of the amenities were a plus, and there are many. If it's watching TV at the outside bar or viewing a great move during the night while you cool off floating in the pool, this place has everything. The host is spectacular.

The property was just as beautiful in person as the online pictures that drew me in to book it originally. The house was FULLY stocked with plenty of everything—towels, beach towels, pool floats, games, technology, entertainment, kitchen, etc. I think there was truly one of every single kitchen appliance you could think of. It's evident that the owners have put a lot of thought and care into providing the best experience possible for all potential renters. We will recommend this property to all of our friends and are talking about when we will be able to return! We floated the San Marcos River one day using Don's Fish Camp for float rentals and transportation, which was about a 25-minute drive from the property. It was a great much needed relaxing vacation for our family.

Outstanding Home

This property was absolutely perfect in every way. The house was immaculate. It lacks for nothing. The kitchen was fully stocked with every item you could possibly need. The amount of towels in the bathrooms were over flowing. The pool area with the waterfall was spectacular. The outdoor kitchen was extraordinary. This is a 5 star top notch property. We are already planning our next trip. If you are in the area, don’t hesitate in choosing Mesquite Retreat!

EXCEPTIONAL getaway with all the amenities!!

As many reviewers have stated, the property is exactly as described, if not better. Tons of things to keep all age groups entertained, and the fishing was an excellent treat for the kids. They caught (and released) a lot of fish!!The sleeping accommodations were great with very comfortable beds, lots of towels, a kitchen that has everything you need to cook for a big group, and a ton of seating in the outdoor space which included pool, hot tub, fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen that has inspired a construction project at home.The owners are very quick to respond and accommodating.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone heading to the area. A perfect spot to rest, relax, and catch up with friends and family. We look forward to coming back!

A great New Year’s!

My family and I stayed here and it was wonderful. The pictures are accurate and I encourage anyone who is looking for a restful place to stay away from the city, to consider this place. Fishing was fun in the tank (perch and catfish) watching movies on the big screen by the pool was fantastic, and the use of the golf cart was a bonus. The hosts are nice and easy to deal with. Beds were super comfortable too. Plenty of space to relax and hang out.

Thanksgiving Gathering

Becky and Hershel’s property was magnificent and matches the description perfectly! They were awesome hosts that were very responsive throughout our stay. We had 6 adult couples, 2 teenagers, and 3 little and we were not cramped at all. The home is stocked with more than anyone could want, including an electric gravy boat! Nice touch for Thanksgiving. No one was left wondering what to do with so many options to do in the property. Our family had a fantastic and memorable stay and we highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and enjoyable vacation. Will definitely look to stay here again in the future.
