I highly recommend people to stay at the St. James Hotel! If you’re looking for a basic amenity hotel room to crash at night and explore the city all day, THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU!! I traveled to nyc to be out and about all day and come back to the hotel late to sleep. I don’t want to stay at a chain hotel and pay hundreds of dollars for 20 million amenities that I’m not going to use. The staff at the hotel are incredibly nice and helpful from the minute you check in, during your stay, to when you check out. The building itself is old but I love the charm of it and the upkeep of the building is very well done! I didn’t ever feel like there were any gross, run down parts anywhere. The only 2 small downsides with my stay were that the wifi wasn’t good (but it could also be the tall buildings around and/or the age of the hotel) and the high pitch noise from the showers (the walls are thick and you can’t hear your neighbors but if anyone showers, you definitely hear it). But besides those two things, I will DEFINITELY be staying at the hotel if I’m ever back in the city and will be recommending it to anyone that I know who’s going to the city. It’s in such a good location with lots to see and do!

Staff was so kind and helpful. By far surpassed my expectations, from reception staff to cleaning staff. They were all so kind and approachable. The room itself was very clean, again surpassing my expectations.
