「We stayed 9 nights and it is a special place. The views are unmatched as it's perched atop a high cliff and overlooks the ocean. The staff at the house is also world class and became our friends, helping with anything that arose. The house manager, Jeni, even cooked us some special Tico foods that were scrumptious. 「We had a great spring break at Havana Lodge in Malpaís. The lodge was beautiful, the pool was amazing, and the location was perfect. When we had questions, they were answered within minutes. We couldn’t light the grill, and someone was over within 5 minutes to assist. I’d love to go back. So relaxing.」

「At first glance, the house is super cute. The patio and the views are stunning. I could (and did) sit on the patio for hours a day. It was clean when we checked in and the person who greeted us was great. It’s also very central to the little village (1 minute walk to restaurants and supermarket) and to Zuma tours for excursions. 「A completely run down place. When entering the room there was mouse poop on the beds and the shelves. Taking a shower was impossible because there wasn’t enough water available. Place is not safe. Long dark walkways without any illumination in the property to get to your cabin. At night lots of traffic noise and parties in the neighborhood. Not recommendable」

「Skip. The host listed the property as a 2 minute walk to the beach and it was a 10-12 min 4x4 drive challenge. Since we planned to be able to walk we checked out and asked for a refund. He has not done so to make the situation right. Santa Teresa has been taken over by tourists and developers and not your typical Costa Rica pura vida experience. 「This place was absolutely wonderful and I don’t have one negative thing to say. The rooms were clean, large and comfortable. The grounds were lush and gorgeous. The water slide was super fun. The staff especially at the front desk and restaurant were kind, accommodating and very attentive. I travelled with 3 boys ages 12, 10 and 7. I would highly recommend this place in La Fortuna.」
