Buxton's beauty is a popular choice for weddings, the house is in walking distance of the Palace Hotel, Old Hall Hotel, Crescent Hotel, Devonshire Dome and Pavilion Gardens, all popular reception venues. We have had brides leave from our door for their big day, families delighted to have a venue where they can relax informally together without the constraints of a hotel. As a resident since childhood I am an enthusiast of my beautiful town, the specialist shops within the Cavendish arcade the former spa bathing area, the extensive choice of places to sample the local gastronomic delights, the wonderful Opera house and the stunning Pooles cavern which is rated as England's finest show cavern are just a few of the highlights. The beautifully kept 23 acre Pavilion gardens is a wonderful place for all ages to enjoy a fun filled time. Perfect for our large family get together, rooms are all very large, very comfy beds, games room was a plus, would definitely recommend and stay again, easy to contact Susan the Susan the host
The property was very spacious with plenty of room down and upstairs. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The garden area was nice. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that was needed and the dining room was large enough to seat us all together, which was great.
Spacious house, well equipped with all modern appliances. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Lounge and dining rooms ideal for large gatherings and the games room an added bonus. Ideal for family reunions. Would recommend this property.
I visited with a group of girlfriends for my sisters birthday. We had everything we needed for cooking big meals and staying so warm and cosy during our winter stay!
We found a path up into the Peaks right behind the house and it’s a short walk into town for visiting the cute pubs!
Susan was very responsive and helpful throughout!
We stayed in the house for a week with 6 kids aged 10 months to 12 years. The house itself was amazing with loads of space and activities for the whole family.
The house is situated in a perfect location, close enough to walk into the town centre to take advantage of local parks, shops and bars/restaurants as well as being in the heart of the Peak District.
For large families looking for a great place to get away together, I would strongly recommend this house.
Large, comfortable, well equipped and well situated property. It accommodated 4 couples aged 60 to 80ish , 1 singleton plus a couple of younger overnighters very easily. Large dining room, comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen and pleasant conservatory and sitting out areas. Versatile bedrooms and ample bathroom/toilet facilities. Also off street/garage parking for 4 cars. Very good!
Perfect accommodation for friends and family, ages from 4 to 64. Children enjoyed the playroom. The dining room table was big enough to accommodate us all. The kitchen had plenty of mugs and plates etc and everywhere was immaculately clean. Would definitely recommend, thank you Angela
This is an excellent property. The house is outstanding and complemented by an excellent location in easy walking distance of Buxton Town Centre. This was a special holiday for us celebrating, a golden wedding and a 70th birthday during the year. A rare chance to get most of the family together to mark this special year spanning three generations from 74yrs to 5 months it was perfect. Thank you Susan.
What a lovely property - it did exactly what it said on the tin! There was loads of room for everyone to be together or doing different things - the games room and conservatory were particular favourites. The house was spotless and extremely well equipped - the kitchen had absolutely everything that we needed. The host was really friendly and helpful and on hand if we had any problems. It was definitely the right place for a multi age multi family break - thank you.
We enjoyed a fabulous week in Buxton staying at Wellwood Lodge. The house was perfectly located to access all that the Peak District has to offer and was very well equipped and super comfortable for those days where we were less active and just wanted to chill.
Overall, very good and we had a very pleasant stay. The house is well equipped and furnished. Parking wasn't a problem. It's an easy walk into Buxton centre.
The house was perfect for our family of 8 adults and 4 children. Very well equipped, there is everything you need and the games room was great for our young and 'older boys'. Lovely large lounge and dining room.
Great property well modernised and highly functional for purpose There were 8 of us do plenty of room and we all had a great time. It is a bit of a hike into the centre, but although that was a bit of a real problem for any if us, but but could be an issue if you have limited mibility
All the bedrooms were great and cool in the heat.
Very comfortable beds.
Living room bigger than expected. Games room was well used.
Great to have a kitchen with plentiful crockery and cooking utensils.
Nice country walk for the dog nearby.
It is a steep walk back from town, but perfectly doable.
The house was lovely and was well equipped. It was quite a difficult climb to the house for me with C. O. P. D and I think this should be mentioned in the description
The house is enormous and easily caters for 3 or 4 families (we were 4 families with kids). Living room in particular is huge and dining room big enough to accommodate us all. Several bathrooms. Basement games room. Good location. Lots of parking. Nature reserve nearby good for dog-walks. Easy access to countryside. We didn't explore Buxton but it looks very pleasant. Would definitely go again.

Holiday in Buxton with 12 German ladies
The accomodation and reception were optimal. I, as the only male in the party and a Debyshire lad, wished to show a German gymnastics group (age 55-75), my old home in the Peak District. The weather was optimal and they really had a great weekend (May 10thg - May 14th 2019). Everyone enjoyed the beautiful Victorian house wuth its modern facilities and as a group of 13, there was enough room for all. Bedrooms, showers, kitchen etc. optimal. Thank you Susan!
Well equipped house within walking distance (steep walk back) of Buxton. Garden was a bit smaller than anticpated and garden furniture could do with a lick of paint.. House was well equipped especially the kitchen, could do with another bathroom but that can't be helped!
All in all we had a great time! Some rather strict rules and were surprised to have to strip all beds and empty bedroom bins on checking out as we would have thought that was the cleaner's job but it did not affect our enjoyment of catching up with family.
really spacious which is great with a handful of kids. they loved the games rooms though it was cold and the blow heater not really adequate. we loved the spacious kitchen and dining room and thank you for the Christmas decorations.
perfect for everyone and we had some great walks too.
We had a fantastic time in Buxton at Susan’s place. We used all of the bedrooms, which are comfortable and spacious, the living areas and kitchen are huge, so we had lots of space to hang out and socialise. Having three/four bathrooms also helped! The kitchen is extremely well equipped for a group visit too. Buxton is a gorgeous town and only a ten minute walk away, as is the train station. I’d highly recommend Susan’s place to anyone wanting to organise a gathering for friends and/or family!
Good communication with owner, nicely presented house with plenty of space to relax., cook and eat together. Plenty to see and do in Buxton, without relying on driving everywhere.
