this review actually is for the "design" apartment not the "grand" apartment.the apartment is exactly as pictured. it is spacious and decorated in modern minimalist style which is my personal preference. also, there is a wardrobe filled with extra towels so you do not have to worry about using the same towel for days. what i also appreciated is the fact that all the cleaning tools and detergents are in the house. it is nice to have the tools to keep my temp home clean.what i want to add in more details in this review is its location. it is on the Pest side of budapest. if you do your homework, you'll know and notice that 1) there are much fewer VBRO properties available on the buda side. the ones you can find are mostly very dated and with stairs to negotiate. that is because buda side is hilly and very residential and not much going on. 2) in contrast, Pest is where all the chic restaurants, bars, ethic eateries, shops are. it is also flat. so if you have mobility problem, this is where you want to be. frank's apartment is in the midst of everything. bar district, many beer/burger places. one of the cheapest and best draft beer/burger places is right down stairs on the same block. and because of the neighborhood, you can go upscale but also find some amazing food at very cheap price such as doner kebab and turkish take out. 3) by the same token, this apartment is located on a very busy main road of budapest with practically non stop traffic of cars and old trams. street noise is significant. but it was not an issue for us as it was cool enough at night for us to keep all the windows closed and frank has great double sets of windows.another thing about the Design apartment is that there is a condo construction going on at the back of house. on monday and tuesday, the banging started at 7:20 am. however it was not a big issue for us either because it was just me and my husband staying in this large place and two main bedrooms are at the front of the apartment and there are interior doors we could close to block most of the noise. i think budapest is just a noisy city and you'd be hard pressed to find any home that is better than frank's.
