We love staying at Byrdies, and it was great being back there after a few years. The magnificent view, the stretchof wild beach, the comfortable retreat of the house...
This was our second stay at the Birdie house with our family. It works out great for all of us. Great house, well equipped and awesome location. We did some great hikes in the surrounding area. The owners are very responsive. Can't wait to go back.
I had my wife, our son, his wife and 5 year old daughter and I for 4 nights at the house. Our stay could not have been better. We never saw another person at or near the house other than at check in. The house worked out perfect for us and the property is amazing. The beach below the house is spectacular and again - never saw another person or even a foot print. Definitely coming back.

Beautiful!!!
We were fortunate to be able stay here for a week. What an amazing location! It is fairly isolated, so if you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is perfect. Cell phones worked most of the time and wifi was hit or miss, but that helped us just destress and forget about the rest of the world for awhile. We were able to walk on the deserted beach for hours each day, star gazing from the hot tub at night, and relaxing on the deck overlooking the Pacific in the afternoon. The property was larger than we expected...2 bedrooms plus a family room/bunk room in the back. We met the owner when we arrived...he was very kind and had been fixing a few things at the home. Informed us the microwave didn't work, but a new one was being ordered. Not a big deal for us. The house is very well stocked...kitchen had everything we could have needed. Lots of extras...tpaper, dishwash soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, logs for the fireplace, etc. that many times are not included in rentals. It is fairly isolated, but that was the draw for us, as it is set on one of (what we think) is the most gorgeous stretches of the coast. It was 20 minutes down to Brookings for dinner or a grocery store. I would encourage arriving in daylight the first time...it is down a gravel road that gets very dark, so it might be a bit unnerving if you arrive the first time in the dark. Hot tub had a few jets not working, but it was clean, hot and mostly bubbly. We actually preferred it not bubbling, because you could hear the waves below. We hope to come back with our teens one day.
This has been our fourth visit to Byrdies. Every year the house and grounds has more nice amenities. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We love coming and are already discussing our next trip!!!;
I can’t say enough good things about Byrdies Beach House. It was actually more beautiful than I expected. Owner was extremely responsive and the amenities were more than described. Walk to the beach can be challenging so bring good shoes with tread to make the trek, but worth the walk.
We loved our stay. There were so many nearby places to explore. The house was quiet and remote—perfect for some much needed relaxation. The view from the deck was hard to beat, and the short drive to the beach was great for our kids to visit the beach several times a day.
We have been to this property 3 times and it never disappoints. It is one of my families favorite vacation spots. We travel 12 hours to get there and typically stay a week and it never seems like enough time. There’s so many amazing things about this property to include…..the view, quiet location, private beach to explore and we always manage to see seals from afar. Words can’t describe how great this property is but you will NOT be disappointed if you book it.
We loved the coziness of the house. Quiet private area, short hike down to the beach. This time of year not any sand during the day. Early mornings and late night low tide. We enjoyed the rocks and driftwood. We had 5 adults but definitely room for more comfortably, Views were amazingly beautiful! Saw deer and actually had snowfall the day we left. Had a roaring fire in the large fireplace with supplied firewood every day. Beds were very comfortable. Would definitely recommend highly if you’re looking for some quiet beauty! Stunning views and can’t forget the hot tub!
Overall, we liked the house, excellent views, nice updates, and the beach was AMAZING (provided you don’t mind a little hike)! The beds and most surfaces were nice and clean…the floor was not super clean. The only reason we have a lower rating on cleanliness is the water…it was dirty colored and very low pressure, which made it difficult to run the dishwasher and laundry. We would probably recommend bring drinking water.
Pretty cool property though!
Thank you Crook Point for a lovely stay. The location is private and the view is idyllic. Possibly the most comfortable bed I've slept in at a vacation rental.
This was our 7th time staying at Byrdies. We absolutely love this property. Unfortunately this time we had a bad ending to our stay as a result of a few tents being pitched in the yard for one night of the 6. For this I am sorry and had no intention of taking advantage of the property owners or disrespecting this amazing place.
This year we planned the 6 nights and 7 days diligently. 2 nights with my father sister and I only, 2 nights with family and friends celebrating with live music, and 2 nights with just my partner and I. We notified the manager about these plans exactly.
We notified the manager that we were having an event for 2 out of the 6 nights of our stay and that more than 10 people would be attending. With the smoke being so horrible across the west coast way more of our friends and family showed up than ever have before and a couple of them could not find anywhere to stay nearby. I guess people were more desperate to escape the smoke than we planned for. In our past stays we have not had any issues following the rules of the property.
On Saturday morning, day 4 of our stay, we were greeted by the property owner who very angrily notified us that we had 30 minutes before the sheriff would arrive and he would press criminal charges if we had not vacated the premises.
He went onto say some very condescending things about me and my guests which included some generalizations about "the new generation" being lazy, not working for their money, and then went onto address my partner and I quite directly saying that we "know nothing" about how life actually works. He went on to say many other things that were extremely insulting and condescending. He also went on to explain he has been having this problem frequently at all his rentals recently…
This came as a surprise to me. He must have forgot our encounter 2 years prior when we had a great conversation and shared our general life stories including the successful company I started. Not to mention my partner is the director of one of the largest non profits in our area.
I had no intention of having 15 people stay on the premises that night. I explained to the owner that I could have the tents packed up in a matter of minutes and that we would be sure not to have more than the 10 people allowed staying in the house that night.
My partner and I planned to get married at this property one day. Sadly this will be the last time we stay here. RIP Byrdies. We love you
Perfect location for a peaceful family stay. We loved how close it was to the beach. My kids enjoyed tide pooling at low tide and exploring. We spent hours playing on the beach. It is a bit of a climb up from the beach to the house but my 4 year ran right up it. The hot tub was another perk! The house was extremely clean. And it was loaded with games and even had some sand toys. We saw a couple deer and turkeys on property. Overall it was amazing, could not be happier.
Fabulous well-appointed house with beautiful view, great deck, plenty of seating and towels.
Some of deck flooring is uneven and loose-needs to be fixed. No guest book with directions to get to the beach. Owner changed the lock combination and neglected to tell the other party with whom e were traveling.
With that said, beautiful grounds and house.
We always enjoy the solitude and beauty of the property. The house is perfect for the 4 of us although it could easily sleep more. The walk on the private beach is amazing
