The property was lovely & the location was perfect. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but were very disappointed in subpar management & grossly inadequate cleaning. We initially were housed elsewhere as there was extra cleaning required for this property due to mold from recent rains. We were offered a property that was not comparable. I requested a refund for the difference or another property. We were given the latter for which I had to specifically request linens and towels.
We were to arrive the property after office hours due to our flight. There was an exorbitant charge of $500 for after hours check-in which would be returned to our bank after we left the property. I have no idea what this would be for. My bank also would’ve charged me for a direct return of funds.
At first glance the house was clean. However, we noticed: base of bed in a bdr was broken; a layer of dust and a comb under our bed; a layer of dust and candy wrappers under the dresser; Allen’s snakes in a lego tub; moldy, out of date food in the cupboard; lipstick marks on drinking glass rims; small shard of glass that our niece cut her foot on (we had not dropped or broken any glass ourselves); manhole cover in the master closet was left open which allowed cold drafts in; only 1 of 6 lights came on outside which made BBQing dinner difficult; board games that were torn up and/or missing several pieces and were unplayable.
The most concerning thing was that after 2 days, my husband fell ill which is very unusual for him. Covid tests for 3 days were negative. Further investigation of the house led us to find mold in the AC vents, fans (along with a thick layer of dust), blinds, and louvre shutters. It was pretty appalling and gross. We contacted the property mgr (Kimberly) who offered no apology or express any shock. A few days after this, she arranged for cleaning of these which required us to be out of the house. When we returned, things were cleaner, but there was still evidence of mold and the bathroom AC vent was untouched. We alerted Kimberly and she didn’t respond for the rest of our stay. With all this, not sure what the additional cleaning fee is for or what was done during the extra days of cleaning at the start of our stay. Also, Covid…
Lastly, one of the amenities for which we chose this house was the X-box. It didn’t work. Kimberly suggested we move about some TVs in the house which we did, but that didn’t help. We let her know; there was no follow up/response.
