Cottages at Penny's Cove The Sweet Retreat - Cottage #2
10/10 Excellent
"There is no down side to Penny’s Cove. The cottages far exceed every expectation! They are beautifully decorated and remodeled. The creature comforts work flawlessly and the hosts are far and away the best we have ever met. They make you feel like family. There are kayaks, grills , and a great fire pit. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you Christine and Matt. Almost forgot to mention the high quality of all kitchen utensils."

Cosy cottage by lake Francis between Montreal and Ottawa
10/10 Excellent
"The cabin was clean, with good air conditioning & a beautiful view of the St. Lawrence River. (I would caution those unfamiliar with life by the river that inside lights should always be turned off when opening exterior doors as little tiny black bugs tend to swarm in--they tend to die off quickly and just need to be swept up & wiped away--just a nuisance, but mostly avoidable by ensuring the lights are off when leaving the cabin.) The kitchen was well supplied with adequate pots & pans, including a baking sheet, frying pans, and a casserole dish. It had adequate utensils both for eating & for food preparation & cooking. Salt & pepper, sugar, and even some olive & other cooking oil was provided. We did not see a barbeque, but did not really miss it. The owners supplied a French press, some coffee beans, & a blade coffee grinder as well as a beautiful tea set, a sampling of teas, & some maple honey. Being large coffee drinkers, however, we brought our own large drip coffee brewer & coffee beans/burr grinder as well as a microwave oven for reheating. The owners left a large supply of bottled water in the fridge, but given the length of our stay & unsuitability of the well water for drinking, we simply purchased a 40 dollar portable water filter to ensure an adequate supply of suitable water for coffee, et cetera for our ten-day stay. The owners were quick to respond whenever we had need to communicate with them and were very accommodating. We very much enjoyed our stay."
Birdwatcher's Paradise
10/10 Excellent
"We had an absolutely wonderful stay and can't recommend this cottage enough. From the moment we arrived, Bill made us feel so welcome. He was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and always just a phone call or message away. His communication was excellent throughout our stay, always responding quickly whenever we had a question. On our second evening, he even came by and started the fire for us, which was such a thoughtful gesture! The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect place to relax. There was so much to enjoy with the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboards available to use. There was even a small playground area which my granddaughter absolutely loved. What truly makes this place unforgettable, is the house itself. You can feel the history in every room. All the unique details give it a warmth and character that simply can't be recreated. It feels like stepping back in time, and we found ourselves appreciating something new every time we walked through it.If you appreciate history, charm, and homes with incredible character and stories to tell, you'll absolutely fall in love with this place.Thank you for sharing such a special home with us. We left with wonderful memories and would love to return someday."
