"The Grove Park Inn used to be a five star property. It’s a 3 at best today. We went to the GPI to celebrate my son’s birthday. Just to hit the high notes, the service from the staff was terrible. They obviously have very little training in hospitality. Absolutely no enthusiasm by the person in the Cafe, the Concierge, or the wait staff. Additionally, the Edison restaurant was a big disappointment. Our waiter rushed us through our dinner, even though there were very few guests in the restaurant. We ordered drinks and my son ordered a Sour Pineapple Cherry beer. The waiter brought out a completely different beer. We tracked him down to let him know and he informed us that they did not have beer he ordered. He scooped up the beer glass and can without a word. He did not offer another alternative. Secondly, the television in the restaurant was tuned to a very divisive and controversial political channel. I was shocked. The local restaurants in my hometown know better than this.
Additionally, our room was dirty. The bathroom floor was sticky and we found a dead bug, M & Ms and and old cough drop on the floor around the beds. Our hotel room was only serviced once during our four day stay.
The Spa was also dirty and extremely dated. There was an old comb, the lining of a women’s swimsuit, and most disgusting, someone blew their nose in the cold plunge tub and we had to find someone to remove it. So, no cold plunge for us. The “Spa” robes were horrible. Will not return. "
"I am giving this a lower review for a few reasons, the mattresses were so uncomfortable and the bed frame in the main bedroom rattled like a bunch of chains every single time you would move. Living room furniture was also pretty uncomfortable. Finally the first night we were there, there were strong storm that came through in the early morning and the main bedroom has a slight hang over the base structure and it actually shook the entire room, kind of unnerving.
Unit was very clean and had a nice view but wouldn’t stay again if I can’t get a good nights sleep. "

"We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin in Waynesville! It was the perfect mountain getaway and exactly what we were hoping for. The cabin was incredibly cozy, clean, and welcoming, and it had everything we needed to feel right at home.During our stay we went snow tubing nearby, which was such a fun highlight, and we loved exploring the area. One of our favorite little surprises was finding a spot down the road selling fresh eggs on the honor system—such a charming touch that made the trip feel even more special. We also spent time antiquing around town and found some great little shops. The location was ideal—peaceful and relaxing but still close enough to everything we wanted to do. After busy days out exploring, it was so nice to come back to the cabin and unwind. We truly had a great experience and made some really special memories here. Would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain escape!"
"Loved that our large deck was about 6' from the creek as it swiftly flowed over rocks making little white caps and white sound of rushing water soothed away all our troubles
There's a large round wrought iron table on the deck with armed chairs. Bring a cushion.
The interior is a one bedroom corrage. The fully stocked kitchen isn't fully stocked, however. 3 nice pots, but only one fry pan, an older "copper," finish. The only spatula made for coated frypans is extremely flimsy. They have nice stainless steel ones, however. Good to use on the outdoor grill.
The queen size bed is to die for, lots of closet room as well. Nice big natural stone gas log fireplace that doesn't work. Would be helpful in taking the chill off. But there is one electric healer built into the living area wall, and a baseboard heater in the bedroom. All in all, we had a great time. "
