"Wonderful time here for 1 night before heading to Yosemite. The house was beautiful and spacious, but we especially loved the hot tub and outdoor space. "
Charming 3-bedroom townhome in delightful South Sacramento with AC, WiFi
6/10 Okay
"Townhome is located near Kaiser Hospital. The "community" is located within small-road neighborhood but the quick surrounding area does not feel safe as there are MANY people roaming at night(very sketchy). The host texted the code for the "gated" community, but that gate does not lock throughout the day or night. Anyone can come and go as they please, so it was pointless. The community itself is poorly kept. I saw kids and even older adults littering the community. At night there were many get-togethers/parties going on outside. Walls are thin so it was very loud. There were gunshots heard some nights. The home itself: the back sliding door does not lock &is sealed "locked" with a wooden stick. Does it work, sure. But that's not very professional in my opinion. The lower level was cooler than the 2nd floor (our stay was during June). 2nd floor takes a while to cool down. The rooms don't have curtains so all 3 rooms were very hot during the day. The rooms could use more pillows. The master closet could use a light in there. The post is misleading saying the 2 bathrooms offered bathtubs when there is only one full bathroom and a half bathroom. The dishes in the cabinets were not thoroughly cleaned (smeared with grease on some dishes and crud on others). There could be more seasonings offered in the cabinet. The couch was not cleaned (looked in the cracks and under the seating to find candy wrappers and water bottles that didn't belong to us). I really wanted to like the place."
Sunny House Near Downtown Old Town Airport Yard Barbecue Shopping Zoo
2/10 Terrible
"Location: It was located in a rough, working class neighborhood. One of houses had at least 7 seven cars. Some of which were parked in front of the homestay property. Condition: The HVAC didn't work. They had to replace the whole HVAC system. We were stuck in a cold house during the winter with contractors in and out of the house for 2 weeks. The only compensation offered was 250. They were more concerned about having to spend money to replace the HVAC. This house isn't maintained to a level to be a short term rental. Safety and privacy: Men in unmarked vehicles were constantly walking into the backyard and trying to open the front door via the keypad. When property management was contacted about this, they said they were the landscaping people. These men didn't appear to be the typical landscaping crew, and no yard maintenance occurred during the homestay. With no proper notice and concerned about our safety and privacy, we put a lock on the backyard. Property management harassed us about the lock but was aloof about the men constantly walking into the backyard. We were treated worse than tenants and left with little recourse. I can't recommend this specific homestay or this host who has several properties throughout the area."
