Great downtown stay

Attending a concert at Golden 1 Center and picked this as it was within walking distance and looked pretty cool compared to a standard hotel. The entire property is well preserved with all the Victorian charm of years ago. Great kitchen set up and dining area. Room was comfortable but next time I will bring my own pillow as they were typical hotel style. The staff was also super friendly, will be back

It a very pretty place very organized , like the way kitchen is set up and how i was able to pit my stuff in the fridge they have for guests. A very very lovely place!

Absolutely loved the staff and the property….beautiful and relaxing. The area is nice and lots to walk to, there are a LOT of homeless people. The homeless people honestly did not bother us much at all. Would love to stay again and highly recommend.

Gem in downtown Sacramento!

Our stay was wonderful, and our host Andrea was as wonderfu, helpful and so knowledgeable. Absolutely beautiful inside, comfortable and quiet. 10-15 min walk to most downtown spots, including Golden 1 and the Capitol. Highly recommend!

Recommended Booking

First time hostel user, found the whole experience to be a great one. Making the reservation was very easy and accurate, got a good idea of what to expect. When checking in, it was quick, easy and clear, staff was very friendly, the property was clean and maintained well, location was great, limited on private parking but paid a small fee for one of the 10 spots for my car, wasn’t worried about leaving my car overnight. Was concerned about leaving my things alone while I was gone but luckily I had a lock, I could use one of the lockers available. Even without that, I felt like it was safe to leave my things on my bed. Coming back in a couple months and will plan to stay here, worth it for the price and experience.

Absolutely loved the architecture and interior decor of this Victorian beauty. The staff was wonderful. Anthony, in particular, could not have been a better host. Comfortable, clean, great location, safe, gated parking! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay at HI Sacramento again if I'm ever back in Sacramento.

It was pleasant staff was great but i was wasnt awear there was a parking fee i wish i would have known. And the neighborhood was a lot of homeless around but the property its self was very safe and it felt safe

Lovely, caring, staff. Shared facilities worked very well. Nice to have a kitchen to use. Beautiful house with interesting history. A true gem. Great location. Walk to Golden 1 Center. I definitely plan to return.

Lots of care has gone into this 1885 building. The staff was great & room comfortable & attractive. Bathroom was right next to our room so easy to access. Lots of messages taped around which were fun to read (and interesting). Really appreciated the thought that was behind the hostel. Very glad we decided to stay here.

It was great to be in a hostel environment again. They did provide the bedding, 2 pillows, and a towel. There was a continental breakfast. You help with stripping the bed and doing your own dishes. Nice to have option for longer stay to use fully equipped kitchen. There is a fenced lot if you have a car, of course there is an extra charge. The area was quiet enough at night. It is in a business district, and on a Sunday it was very quiet. Would stay here again.
