"We have just checked out from our 2 night stay. It has been an amazing experience with our 2 young children. Facilities and room were excellent. Kids enjoyed the pool and driving Range. The food was excellent at the restaurant. We had Dinner and BreaKfast for the 2 days and both days was good. However i think front Desk staff need some extra training. At 3 different times with different staff we were given wrong information. They cluless about the facilities and its timings etc. one day we were booked and told to go to Bar for our Dinner even after I mentioned we had dinner at the restaurant behind last night, the lady was so sure and told us to go to bar at the allocated time only to be told to go back to the restaurant by the Bar staff. When asked about children’s swimming times and information no clue when asked about driving range no clue and was told to go to the outer building and ask them. Apart from that i would definitely recommend and would return again. "
"Tried to arrange everything in advance for a stay with my mum, who has mobility issues. Staff were very accomodating, however, everything was a little further away than they made it out to be. Which did cause some issues. Fine if you are a wheelchair user, but my mum uses crutches to get around. It was not that easy for her.
Rooms are very basic, for the price and the attraction of "Horwood House". Be careful, the beds are on wheels, which surprised my mum, as she almost fell off. They are also pretty firm matresses, not the most comfortable night I've ever had. I also had a dripping noise all night in my room, that sounded like the buildings heating.
The pool/spa was lovely though. Not many changing facilities, so queues happen often, but it was nice and modern and clean.
Dinner at Harrys was excellent. Fresh, hot and delicious. Be aware the cocktails are very expensive though.
Breakfast was a disappointment. Definitely not worth £20 per person. I know its geared up for wedding parties/conferences, but the quality was so bad and nothing was as warm as it should be.
The staff however, are amazing.
They were so accomdating, friendly and willing to go over and above.
This ranges from reception, to the staff at Harrys, the Spa and 1911 for breakfast.
The staff truly made the visit special, even if some of the other stuff was a disappointment."
"If you are staying in the paddock building, there is a separate carpark closer to that building.
The bar area is nice and I preferred the bar menu compared to the man restaurant. A lot cheaper as well.
My room in the paddock building was great. Plenty of space, clean and they kept the natural wall as a feature as well. Comfy bed. Plenty of extras in the room such as canned water, sweets, crisps, biscuits etc. The room had a fridge as well.
I booked through hotels.com £93 for a Monday night including breakfast as access to the leisure facilities.
Leisure facilities had a good steam room and sauna. Two hot tubs but one isn’t working. Large pool, a little cold but good. Plenty of loungers.
I didn’t use any of the other facilities such as the gym, hair salon or beauty/massage therapies.
There is also plenty of seating areas around the building so you can step away and find somewhere more quiet and intimate if you don’t want to be in the main bar.
Highly recommend this hotel. "
"Great staff and they called when room was ready and stored our luggage for us. It was a visit for my daughter's 21st birthday and the location was brilliant as she is at the uni there. Lovely, clean and quirky room and very quiet too. Breakfast was also really nice and again, great staff. "
