"The small hotel is in Marampata, Peru, close to Choquequirao. Everything that gets to Marampata comes on a human's or mule's back on a brutally long day of hiking. The fact that the hotel exists there is amazing in itself. No idea how the mattresses got there. My son and I stayed 2 nights on a recent hiking trip to Choque. "Late June (cold winter) 2025: Very Good (and new) hotel that is centrally located. Market is 3 minute walk and restaurants a 7 min walk - neighborhood is safe to walk in at night; has fast WiFi; heat in room via an electric heater (ask for it); good bed and blankets: my wife and I were warm overnight - no need to sleep in extra pajamas (compare with Puno); TV worked fine. "We had a studio suite, which was fantastic. Large seating area, huge bed, lovely bedding, jetted bath, huge walk in shower, 2 big screen smart TVs, shared patio area (5th floor, views over river and town). 2 complimentary bottles of water (free filtered dispenser and coffee/tea station in lobby) and plate of welcome cookies. Breakfast, which is great buffet option and eggs cooked to order too, starts at 5am, not 6.30 as stated in description, so we were able to enjoy it before setting of for Machu Picchu. It’s at the top of town, but it’s less than 5 minute walk down the riverside path to the bus for MP, and a 5 minute walk up from the train station. Very friendly helpful staff, and will store your luggage whilst at MP too."
