Perfect Location

Lovely hotel in a great neighborhood just a couple blocks off the Vondel Park. Staff was excellent and really helpful with recommendations. Room was excellent, bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious. Stairs are a little steep, but that seems to be the norm in Amsterdam. Only thing I'd add to my wishlist would be a mini-fridge. Otherwise, great place to stay!!!

Good location

Very convenient location- tram from outside the hotel straight to the centre/train. Also bus to airport nearby. Hotel nothing to get excited about but it was comfortable enough for our trip

Room was kind of scruffy and in dire need of paint on the wall + not deep cleaned for a long time and mugs in the room were not changed between use while we stayed… The staff was ok. If you’re not in good shape or have trouble with steep stairs - don’t book this place. Even if there’s a non-smoking policy one of our rooms smelled of smoke and weed - it was changed after an extra night so in that sense they were helpful at the front desk. the area around the hotel is lovely but I would definitely choose somewhere else to stay.

Nice Amsterdam Stay

A nice clean, comfortable, and convenient location for our stay. No frills or particular ambience, but basic and a good value. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Great neighborhood with many options for dining and walking. Close to Vondelpark and Tram route. Would recommend.

Summer 24 visit

The room was tiny, as we expected. The front desk staff was very friendly. But they charged us an extra $50 non-refundable tax on top of hotels.com reservation that I could not understand. The hotel is in a very nice residential neighborhood, than regular touristy spots. We were able to enjoy the quiet and have the local experience, as we wanted. They have a very cute tiny patio that was fun for my younger one to visit.

Quick review of the Apple Inn is that I would not stay here again. Here is the good and the bad. The Good: The location is excellent. It’s a short walk to Vondelpark, or to a nice bakery. It’s on the #2 tram line, which can take you throughout the city. Most is the staff were friendly and helpful, and there is a nice patio area to escape to. The Bad: If you have difficulty negotiating stairs request a room on the first floor. The stairs risers are very small and steep. In the compact room we found a TV that receives one station, a lukewarm shower and a safe that did not open. We asked for the safe to be repaired but it was not. Also, the breakfast cook appeared to dislike Americans.

Decent hotel for the price but needs a lot of work

Small hotel in two connected residential buildings. Very narrow stairs to the second floor so beware if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. Room was a decent size and turned out to a quiet garden which was nice. The hotel (and room) is really in need of some TLC - paint, lampshades (dirty) etc. Shower was decent but again a bit dirty and run down. Stayed in room 47.

Bad ventilation and noisy

Noisy room along the street. Very warm room despite low temperature outside. Mouldy smell. Not very clean. Had to have window open during night because of no ventilation, even if it was very noisy.

The staff/owners were very nice. This hotel had very steep stairs and it was very very hard to use them! No air ! And it was hot!!!!!! And the staff was unwilling to supply an extra fan even. I would not suggest using this hotel if you can not handle steep winding stairs and no air conditioning.

Adequate given the cost for the central location

Hotel is fine for the cost and location and if you are just using it as a place to sleep. Single beds very narrow and soft, walls very thin so can hear people in adjacent room. No aircon (was there during heatwave, unfortunately). But it’s reasonably priced and you get what you pay for. If you want a nice hotel near the centre you have to pay much more, or pay the same and stay much further out.
