The Monterey Hotel

2/10 Terrible

"THEY GAVE ME A KEY TO AN ALREADY OCCUPIED ROOM. My partner and I checked in around 9pm and the receptionist gave us a key to our room. I went to the room and unlocked the door and opened it to a woman in the midst of changing. We were both shocked! The receptionist was sorry for this mistake and gave me an "upgrade" room. (Upgrade is in quotes because the bed and the room still looked like the same size.) I just felt uneasy during my stay because if I could accidentally walk into someone's occupied room, someone can do that to me as well..."

"Room was a good size and clean and tidy. Check in was easy and great to be able to park near the room. Although we only used the pool once, the hotel had great facilities and was easy walking distance to the main visitor attractions. I would definitely stay here again if I was in Monterey again."

"No housekeeping!!!! If you need anything you need to go ask in the front(extra blankets, pillows, trash bags..) . Room was kind of dirty. Floor was dirty foresures. We had to ask for a broom. They offered to have housekeeping come in and sweep and mop but my socks still got pretty dirty after the fact. The caulk in the shower is molding. The windowsills look gross, dirty, and dusty. Fingerprints all over the headboards. Water pressure sucks. Only thing okay was the price ($615 for 4 nights on Memorial Day weekend.) compared to everywhere else. I Lysol and Clorox everything anyways. But still, I shouldn't have to. The toilet stopped flushing on day 2 and we had to ask for a plunger. Will not be back next year."

"We stayed for 1 night. We will stay longer next time. Prime location to downtown and the fisherman's Wharf. We utilized the gym in the morning it was nice. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The valet parking staff provided excellent customer service. We definitely will be back."

"The hotel misrepresents its amenites .It is a 25 minute walk from the water ,in an inconvienent lovation . There is no where to sit outside . Staff's attitude is they are doing you a favour and you are not paying for your room 😢. We were there two nights no maid service and dated rooms . Asked for more pillows never showed up. Would never go there again ."
