We were let in a bit earlier than usual but the room was surprisingly warm. The air conditioning was off and I hadn’t realised I needed to contact reception for the centrally controlled system. The corridors also smelled damp and mouldy. Compounding the issue, there was no complimentary water in the room despite the key indicating otherwise. It seemed like a Hilton member only perk. I am a member, but booked last min and didn’t have the membership no. This is the first time I’ve encountered this in all my travels. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. However, the parking was quite expensive at £15 per night. Overall, the hotel was clean.
Parking should be advertised as you have to pay and not blind sided to paying in the day

My partner and I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon Oxford for the weekend, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the expectations we had of the Hilton brand. Before booking, we read several positive reviews, Expedia highlighting "warm hospitality and attentive staff." Sadly, this was not reflective of our experience. One of our biggest disappointments was the breakfast offering. In 2026, it feels outdated for a hotel of this standard not to provide a wider range of dietary options, particularly halal and vegan choices. With guests coming from diverse backgrounds and having varying dietary requirements, I believe these options should be considered a basic expectation rather than a luxury. We were also disappointed by the level of service in the restaurant. Many of the staff appeared to be young and relatively inexperienced in hospitality. While everyone starts somewhere, there seemed to be a lack of training when it came to guest engagement and providing consistent service to all visitors. What concerned us most was that we felt overlooked throughout breakfast service. Staff were regularly clearing plates and cleaning tables around us, yet our table was repeatedly ignored. This left us feeling neglected and unwelcome. As guests of colour, it was difficult not to notice that the Caucasian guests appeared to receive more attentive service. Whether intentional or not, the experience made us feel uncomfortable and excluded.
Hotel reception is lovely, unfortunately the wing we had been placed in had a significant lack of Airconditioning ! Even though the room is advertised as having AC . When we arrived the room was at 30°c ! We turned on the AC and promptly left the room to cool down !
We returned at 11pm expecting to have a nicely cooled room only to find the room was still 30°c ! With no Airconditioning coming out the vent! At this point the fan was set up at the window which doesn't really open, presumably so you don't jump out due to the heat !
So we spent all night insanely hot and pretty uncomfortable, the whole wing of the hotel looked to have an issue with AC, the main building was lovely and cool! As soon as you walked from the main building to our section the heat hit you, should have slept in Reception!
Breakfast was good and the staff was good but pretty disappointed having no AC and an uncomfortable night . When we left the room in the morning it was showing 28°c on the temperature display on the wall!
Really not what I expected from a Hilton. I should have expressed this upon checking out really but I just wanted to leave without conflict.
Also £15 parking charge is an added sting which isn't made very clear.
Staff is great and tries their best to help customers; food in teh restaurant is really good. Only negative, no wifi

For nearly £170 for a night at a hotel on a retail park, you expect to be able to park overnight included in the price, but no, that privilege costs an extra £15. Coupled with no WiFi, no card payments at the bar and a dirty toilet seat in my room, this was a very poor experience.
Beautiful and clean rooms
I've booked twin room and room was spacious, beds were nice and comfy, separated by a night stand so plenty of space between them
Bathroom was nice and clean and iron and ironing board were very helpful
Hotel was lovely and clean. Williams are nice and big. The only downside was the bed was very uncomfortable very hard.
We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good.
Clean modern hotel in a convenient location for road connections and Oxford. The only downside - a £15 charge to park per car. For a city centre hotel this is fairly common, but for a hotel outside of a city and in a location where car transport is realistically the only option, I think such a charge is unjustified and a rip off.
We were given disabled rooms , which we didn’t request
We felt so embarrassed as we have guests with us in second room who were not disabled either
When we entered the room seemed like someone was sitting on the bed, used pillow and then left the room
We book room with breakfast and was told that we have to pay extra for breakfast when we arrived
The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 was due to the fact that Hotels.com had not passed on my information regarding travelling with dogs.
On my arrival I found out I’d been allocated a non pet friendly room, I advised them I had sent the information as requested via Hotels.com, but they said they had not received it.
Thankfully, despite there being a large function at the hotel, they were able to make some changes and allocate me a pet friendly room! Can you imagine if they’d been completely full 😳
Other than that the hotel was FABULOUS! A lovely spacious ground floor room and staff that were so attentive and polite!
I would definitely stay there again.
Really polite staff couldn’t do any more for you excellent day. John the Bell manager was so helpful and friendly couldn’t meet a nicer guy. Cameron in the restaurant excellence service and very helpful.
