"rooms were clean and tidy Staff were very friendly and on arrival and throughout our stay. went out of there way to help or deal with any issue. great service. Breakfast was included. Good choice was offered and was delivered quickly and efficiently. Evening meals were great value for money and plenty of choice. Bar had a nice cosy relaxing atmosphere. "Lovely stay in a clean, well maintained room. Had breakfast two mornings with excellent choice of continental and cooked. Staff very friendly and the grounds are gorgeous"

"The hall is beautiful with nice gardens and lots of character. Unfortunately the spa was very full and therefore not enjoyable and we had a terrible nights sleep because there is zero soundproofing, we could hear everything from the room above us and any movement in the corridor. I particularly loved our characterful room and view and the surprise jetted bathtub, but even though we turned the radiators off the large pipes throughout the room were still providing too much heat so we had to leave the windows open. It is a shame as the staff were wonderful, breakfast was good with lots of choice and the building really is stunning."

"When we arrived about 5.45pm Sunday evening we could hear a lot of noise coming from the bar area . We went to our room and freshened up arriving back at the bar about 6.15pm. The bar was dominated by a group of "locals" who were worst for wear, shouting and swearing. My husband and I retreated to the terrace which was a bit cool. We asked if any managers were on duty and were told no. The staff were just youngsters and had no authority to deal with these people. We were told that the manager wouldn't subdue these people as they were regular customers. We will not be booking this hotel again. As for the room it was a deluxe room but was lacking in fundamental "

"Was easy to find and a convenient location to access the centre of Middlesbrough, including the football stadium if you are there for a game. Room was good value for money - only comment is it had a small kitchen area but no wardrobe to hang up clothes..,not the biggest issue as it was only an overnight stay. Very helpful that there is parking behind the hotel that you can pay for at reception - a very reasonable fixed price for 24 hours. "
