Lovely old lodge and good location. Bus stop outside takes you to Whitby. Plumbing could do with up an upgrade. Other than that a very nice stay.

Clearly had been an impressive building with great facilities. Needs a massive update and refresh. Who has carpet in a bathroom, especially a hotel? (which had marks/stains throughout the room). Noisy room (7) which was over bar, made worse by dishwashing glasses at 2.00am! Breakfast was average, overcooked sausages, as an example. Over-priced for what it offers as accommodation. Could be brilliant, but needs work to clean the rooms, woyld be a start! Sorry.

Comfortable, historical hotel with great welcome.

Friendly welcome and comfortable accomodation. We were pleasantly surprised how much room we had. Lovely gardens to relax in too.

Traditional old world hotel

Didn’t use anything at the hotel other than the bed which was clean and comfortable, check in was smooth with a nice free upgrade

I wasn’t too bothered where I stayed when I booked this I just needed to be near Castle Howard, but when we arrived I definitely got a wow factor from the place it looked like we were staying in a castle ourselves! The staff were really friendly too and the grounds the hotel was in were fantastic too. I’m looking forward to revisiting just for this place alone absolutely loved it!
