"Stayed at Gora Kadan for one night We arrived in Gora from Tokyo mid morning & spent the time until 3pm check in exploring the area, We had a wonderful stay, looked after extremely well by Shuto who also served our evening meal in our room in true Rokyan style Dinner was outstanding, our dietary requirements were so well taken care of, each dish was exquisite Breakfast was also delicious & served in our room by Shuto Our room was spacious, & had an outdoor private onsen, so relaxing to sit in the hot spring water in the peace & private surroundings As other comments there are some improvements or maintenance required in some areas which are looking a little jaded, maybe there is already plans for this We had the best nights sleep at Gora Kadan so far on our trip & a truly great experience "

"Very nice traditional ryokan! Our room had a private Onsen located within it, which was very nice. We had meals served to us in our room which consisted of traditional Japanese meals. Very nice staff. Close to the main shopping street and train station. Beautiful area."

"We had a great experience at this ryokan! They picked us up from the train station and upon arrival at the hotel, a staff member discussed the amenities, use of the onsen and will answer any questions. The ryokan has a small outdoor onsen. Traditional Japanese breakfast and 12 course dinner are included in the room rate. Overall a wonderful stay."

"Beautiful property in a quite remote region, but accessible to bus and train for easy mobility. Room felt very traditional and had an incredible view of lush forest. "

"The property is a little bit away from the train station and up the hill, but shuttle is provided between 1 and 5 pm every day for pickup. We arrived later, and decided to walk despite being given the option to have them pick us up by request. Checkin was simple and straightforward, we were given instructions on paper and in English. The hotel is a little older, but meticulously maintained cleanliness made up for it. We stayed only one night, and were pleasantly surprised that “half-board” means dinner and breakfast included. The food was fantastic- high end Japanese several course meal. The room was large and Japanese futons comfortable. We had an outdoor tub on our balcony and enjoyed soaking in it the first evening. Hotel also has a public onsen with several private options that do not require reservations. You just need to check if the space is open. We took advantage of it the next morning as we were able to extend our stay for several hours. The onset tub is in the garden area with lots of greenery, and it was just magical to soak in it. There is coffee and tea self service in the lobby, but the tiny kitchen in the room also had everything needed for a cup of fresh ground and brewed coffee or tea. Overall, we enjoyed our brief visit and wished we had more time to spend in the area. "

"This was perfect for traveling with kids. The room was large, there was a public and private bath. Staff were great with my toddler and there are kids areas and free snacks for them, while it's also in walking distance to other things in Gora. I would stay again. "
