Nice, reasonably priced hotel in good location. Staff great. Roof top bar and restaurant great.

Pros: Location was great! Staff were helpful, especially concierge, porter, doorman and housekeeping. Room was spacious for New York. View was wonderful. Cons: Check in line was very long and slow. The elevator from our floor to go down took a really long time. Best to leave earlier if you want to avoid stopping at every floor. Bathroom wasn’t clean. The bathtub was slimy and shower curtain had brown slimy stains. Toilet clogged a couple of times even when we were not in the room (was informed by the house keeper it clogged while we were out). There was no coffee machine or tea or cups in the room. We understand coffee can be bought downstairs but we were surprised by this lack of gesture and room amenity for a 5 star hotel. That’s a first. Upon check out we were billed erroneously for $1,000 for mini bar drinks which we didn’t consume. It was reversed of course but that took time and some attitude from the staff doing it.

The HGU New York was so well located to all the sights and subway was just outside the property. You have a Starbucks on the corner and CVS and Warlgreen two blocks away. Hotel was super clean, staff are so friendly and Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel has a roof terrace with great views of Empire state building. Hotel itself has a code shop too. The rooms are very comfortable and bed was so lovely with amazing pillows. We had a great 6 days there and would go there again.

We enjoyed staying around the Four Seasons.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel 57! Our first room was super comfortable and spacious but we unfortunately had a leaky AC, so they upgraded us to the 15th floor so they could fix it. Our new room was even more spacious and had a balcony with a view of the Chrysler Building! Extremely comfortable, well-maintained, and perfectly located. Would absolutely recommend to anyone planning a stay in NYC!
