Okinawa Island Adventure Vacations

Hotel was very nice although a little secluded. There were 3 restaurants on premises and a convenience store with limited snack options but lots of souvenirs. There was nothing around the hotel and bus service stops around 8 pm. Staff was very friendly and pool was really nice. There’s a private beach however the it’s hard to swim there after noon as the tide goes out and it’s a small blocked off area. There’s a pool side restaurant as well. Overall happy with the hotel but the area is very secluded. Breakfast buffet had a variety of options to choose from as well.

1 Star – Bait and Switch Pricing, Disappointing Experience Our stay at Hotel Nikko Alivila started with what felt like a classic bait-and-switch. After traveling for more than 14 hours and driving through the rain in a rental car, we arrived exhausted, only to be told that our room rate had increased by more than $300. We immediately questioned the charge, but the staff told us we had only two options: pay the higher rate or lose our reservation. After such a long journey, we had no realistic choice but to pay. No guest should be put in that position after booking a reservation in advance. It was an incredibly frustrating and stressful way to begin our vacation. To make matters worse, the overall experience did not justify the premium price. The hotel's amenities, service, and overall value were noticeably below what we experienced at the Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort, located just up the road. The Grand Mercure offered better facilities, a more enjoyable atmosphere, and far greater value for the money. We expected much more from Hotel Nikko Alivila given its reputation, but instead left feeling taken advantage of. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience, especially if you expect the price you booked to be the price you actually pay.

What a lovely place to stay. Beautiful view of the ocean and easy access to it. Love the hotel pajamas. They are so comfortable. We rented a car and had a wonderful time exploring nearby areas and driving north. Also, we could go at our own pace and not worry about getting to the tours on time and feeling rushed through our experiences. We would love to stay here again if we return to Onna City. Very clean, great customer service, great amenities, spacious accommodations.

Beautiful place will go again

I am American and my beach vacations are usually to Mexico. Please keep that in mind when reading my review as that is what I will compare most of it to. I am spoiled. If you are familiar with that type of resort, this will dissapoint you. 1. If you are expecting something nice and modern you will not get that here. This hotel is very outdated. The service is on par for a nicer hotel. The staff was 4/5, Actual hotel probably 2/5. The AC is very weak and Okinawa is hot and humid. The first night we were sweating and had to call for a fan. We left the ac running the next day and it was much more comfortable. Also the parking lot is far from the hotel. They do have a shuttle though. 2. The beach was fantastic. The water here is some of the best I've seen. Bahamas level or better. There are still some fish in the swimming area even though its netted off. 3. Expensive! This hotel was the most expensive of our entire Japan trip and probably the worst. Not only was the stay expensive but everything you wanted to do there cost extra and there was a huge mark up on drinks. I got used to paying under 500 yen for a beer in the mainland but here it was 1000 for one beer. Even 990 for a cola! I got used to Japan prices for the previous 10 days and then got sticker shock when I had to pay America type prices. I would not stay here again. Would just pay to use beach

Overall, spacious and good acoomodation to stay with a large family. However, there were way too many bugs, cockroaches and geckos inside and outside of the property… The hotel basically said it is inevitable due to the climate condition of the island. For me, bugs were tie breaker so I probably won’t stay here again 😂
