Ushima Pet-friendly Vacations

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in bar-none. Room was massive with a gorgeous night view. All room amenities could be controlled via the tablet in the headboard, including AC, TV and info about Beppu. Within walking distance of Beppu Station as it's just up the hill. Parking offered from venue across the street. Bathroom had a full soak tub with a powder room, and a segregated toilet. room. Beds were comfortable and big. Rooftop pool was a joy to experience, with heated guardrail-less pools that have stone chairs built into the pool overlooking Beppu and the mountains. Onsen was decent, but could use a servicing to remove lime scale. Will be back again

The stay was great. Our only complaint was that the AC unit in our room broke the 2nd night which made it hard to sleep.

What an awesome staying!

This hotel is so far out of town that walking in to town isn’t really an option (at least a hour walk) and the buses only run every half hour. As for the room itself, when you enter the bottom of the stairwell, you can turn on the light at the bottom but not the top. So you have to walk up into pitch black and use a flashlight to find the light switch at the top. The room barely cooled off, even with us blasting the AC units. Other than that, the rooms were nice and the onsen had a very pretty view.

Massive space, close to the beach. Easy check in/out

If you are looking to stay here, chances are you were trying to stay in Beppu but wanted to save money, and for the price the hotel is fine. First things first, if you are taking the train, it is around a 20 minute walk from the station, but it mostly flat so it is easy. Staff were fantastic, and check in went great. The hotel was probably the best in Beppu back in the Showa Era (there is a second phone in the bathroom), however it is now clearly quite old and has a distinct smell, even inside my room. The carpet in the hallways was in rough shape, though the carpet in the room was clearly much newer. The air conditioner is either on or off, no control of the thermostat, so your choices are on, off, or open the windows. My room was on the 11th floor, so the view was exceptional. Seeing the sunrise from up there made me feel like the room was worth double the price All things considered, the price was fair, the hotel clean, and the service great, with the main downside for me being the smell.
