Great place to stay. Good location, close to old Montreal. Staff was nice and helpful and hotel was clean

We had the pleasure of staying at the L for a week. Our suite was lovely and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very responsive. There was an issue with the tv remote which was swiftly corrected. Although there is no restaurant on the premises there were fresh croissants, juice and coffee each morning. The location was perfect for walking around Old Montreal. We would definitely stay there again.

The pre-check-in identification was a new experience.

The listing did not make clear that there is no staff on site and that there is only one small air conditioning unit in the living room, which didn’t really cool the bedrooms, and there are no fans. All communication is by cell phone and WhatsApp, and the response time was not good. We disembarked from our ship at 8:45 a.m. and asked to be notified when our two rooms were clean and ready. Despite a message that they would let us know, they never did. We were able to get into the rooms just before 4:00 pm when we went upstairs to see if they were ready. Entry into the building and the rooms is by passcode. The email for one of our rooms didn’t include the code, so I sent multiple messages with no response. Finally someone answered the phone after numerous rings. He set a code and emailed it to me. There was no Wi-Fi network listed in one of the rooms, and when we finally were able to get through to the staff, he told us to use the network for one of the other rooms, which did work. There’s a storage room in the lobby, and you have to call or message the staff to unlock it remotely. Other travelers who were there that day were as frustrated as we were with the communication. There are six steps up from the street to the lobby, and there is no one to help with luggage.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful, which made the entire experience feel special. The brunch was absolutely phenomenal and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Overall, the hotel delivered the level of comfort and service you would expect from the Sofitel. The only detail that fell slightly short was the condition of the shower. While perfectly functional, some of the silicone around the shower appeared to be missing or deteriorating, with a bit of pink discoloration in certain areas. It’s a relatively small detail, but at this level of hotel—and given the price point—I would expect the bathroom finishes to be impeccably maintained. Aside from that, we had a fantastic experience and truly appreciated the hospitality, excellent service, and memorable brunch. We would happily return.
