Lazarus Island Kid friendly Vacations

The property location is great but do NOT book a room in the new wing as the photos were very deceiving. This is the first hotel I've stayed in without any windows (why were there curtains to cover a wall?) and the room was so small my carry on was basically a foot away from the bed. The worst part was the toilet was 2 inches from the wall so you couldn't even sit down (I'm only 5'1) and you couldn't open the bathroom and the shower doors at the same time because of the poor layout. Most of the staff was pleasant but when I kindly asked one of them not to say my room number out loud (for safety reasons), she responded "your room is in the next building" and left me to figure out the rest upon check in.

Really enjoyed our stay! Prime location, good amenities (the laundry access was very appreciated as we were travelling light), good amount of space when you factor in access to the Oasis Lounge. The cafés within the same building are also just lovely.

I decided to splurge on my visit to the Carlton when visiting Singapore. I wish I had splurged a bit more. The check in was transactional and cold, no info provided. I had to ask which way to the elevator. I walked over to the one concierge person (only one for a hotel with 2 towers) and got one-word answers. The room is nice; the views are good. The AC has only one setting, Icebox. Great for sleeping but frozen when in the room, we had to turn it off and live in a musty room during the day. The shower goes from scalding to frigid every 20 seconds. I am baffled how the temps were able to change. Resulted in very short showers. The buffet breakfast was the same all 3 days, and I think my high school cafeteria was better. The scrambled eggs were undercooked, and the omelet line had only one server. THIS is a big hotel, I never had time to wait for a omelet, I think they cut corners, the one folks that were pleasant was the bell boys.

The rooms were clean, the staff was professional, and the location was excellent. The only downside was that the breakfast was somewhat lacking.
