Staff was very helpful, we mailed our luggage to the hotel and they delivered the luggages to our room before our arrival. Breakfast was great, room was clean, couple of restaurant nearby and a lawson downstarirs

Great location....only negatives was rooftop bar was only open one night but this was due to bad weather but it was a great spot for drinks and light bites if needed with reasonable prices. Disappointed that breakfast did not include a decent cup of coffee without charge. Also had insufficient toasting machine for the numbers of people eating breakfast. In room tea and coffee options pretty much non existent. Two coffee bags provided but no creamer or sugar unless you asked at reception. No glasses provided in the room, just plastic tumblers. Sadly no pj's provided like other hotels we stayed at in Japan. We had a pleasant enough stay but if we returned to Kyoto we wouldn't stay again.

Hotel Monterey Kyoto offers a wonderful blend of classic European-inspired decor and convenient access to Kyoto's main attractions. The location made it easy to reach popular spots like Nijō Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and the Gion/Pontocho area without much hassle. The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, and the staff were courteous throughout the stay. A solid choice for travelers who want a touch of elegance combined with practical convenience while exploring Kyoto.

Great overall

Great staff great restaurants on location and very convenient location. Room TV was a little outdated but that’s a very minor nitpick.

Clean and peaceful

Very good value for money stay in a reliable brand hotel. We chose the hotel as we knew we weren’t going to be around much to enjoy or relax in it - hence we did not mind it not having a spa / pool / sauna facility. It is well located at Tennoji station with retro shinsekai foodie area with best knife shop, Osaka museum of fine arts & the zoo within 10 minute walk, and the tram line out to one of the shrines in the station below. It is in one of the tallest buildings in Osaka, so we had great views over the city from our city view room (recommend choosing this option, albeit hotel starts at 19th floor so all rooms would likely have a good view). It is also convenient as has one of the large department stores in the same building.
