We rented this beautiful home during half-term for a family getaway. We had terrible weather while we were there—three storms passed—however, the size and warmth of the home, made it a wonderfully cozy trip. We made lovely fires and watched movies on a big screen, while cooking big stews on the AGA. The kiddos, 3 and 7, ran out to jump on the trampoline and play on the swings between rains and wind gusts. Luckily there is a large bootroom to keep kiddos and dog mud contained and out of the main house. The 12 year old was delighted that we kept a strong WiFi signal during the storms. The beds were all comfortable, with gorgeous, crisp sheets.
My only complaint, and this is minor, is that we were met with so many rules when we first entered the property. For this level of price and deposit, I’m more used to a greeting with a complimentary bottle of wine and an enthusiastic here-are-all-the-things-you-can-enjoy-while-you-are-here tour, rather than a don’t-do-that-or-that. It did make us all nervous the first couple of days before we could relax in the space. I do write this paragraph with sympathy, I may do the same thing if I owned and rented out this stately Old Rectory. That said, we would rent this home again, knowing we could abide by the rules, while relaxing in a beautiful setting.
