AMAZING STAY! Run by a very cute and welcoming family. They are the 6th generation to run a Ryokan here in this 300 year old building. They are excellent hosts. They serve delicious dinners and breakfasts. The dishes and bowls they use are pieces of art in themselves. The property is full of interesting and skilfully made antiques. Our view from the room was a classic, beautifully manicured garden illuminated by a few stone lanterns. I really recommend you stay here. It is great value and a...

Wonderful staff. Clean rooms and a lot of amenities. Highly recommended.

Clean, nice and friendly! So far this hotel was the best place we’ve been! The location was right next to the sea, with a nice view from the hotel. And we really enjoyed the modern design of the room and their restaurant! Plus their staff were very friendly and helpful! We were driving there, they guided us and provided free parking for our stays. We highly recommend this place for all young couples and families!

The Bath with the view and a beautiful ocean view with Mt. Fuji in the backyard.

Thank you for the warm welcome and in house meal, everything was wonderful.

We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests. They gave us some great advice on making a our day trip up the valley on the Oigawa Railway even better, and invited us to a group dinner /...

Lovely area

We had a great stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

I know my husband plans to write a longer review but until that happens, just know that this lovely little gem is exactly that. The staff went above and beyond to meet our every need. The villa was beautiful as was our outdoor onsen which I wish I could have taken with me. The real stand out for us was the staff, their kindness and the quality of the food. We were truly blown away and agreed that we had some of our finest meals here. On second thought I wish I could bring Chef home with me....

Awesome architectural and design wonder. Friendly, interesting, conversational host. Played Flamenco guitar, talked music, design, and math with us. Also had a great conversation about the local area and some of the cool people who live in the town. Overall a unique and amazing experience! Thanks!

Exciting experience with children.
