XA:YTEM Longhouse Interpretive Center

This hotel is in a good location with interesting restaurants nearby. Not far to Gastown and Canada Place and about 20 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. My complaint is the size of the room compared to the cost. Small room with a big cost. Nice bed, excellent linens and great housekeeping.

I’ll start with the positives. The location is good. You’re within walking distance of tons of restaurants and a relatively short walk from most attractions. The staff was also very nice and always willing to help. I appreciated that they had extra self-serve toiletries and other items available for guests to refill as needed. That said, there were several things that really impacted our stay. The hotel does not provide daily housekeeping, which was a bit of a bummer. We had to take out our own trash each day, among other things. My biggest complaint was the king-sized bed. It was terrible and completely sunken on one side. There was virtually no support, and I ended up with back pain from sleeping on it. I’ve never experienced a hotel bed in that condition, and I have no idea why it hasn’t been replaced. The sofa bed wasn’t much better in terms of comfort. The bathroom is also extremely small. I kept accidentally knocking the toilet paper roll off every time I was near the sink because there was so little space. When sitting on the toilet, you could barely close the bathroom door. The vent fan was also coming loose from the ceiling and looked like it was about to fall because it wasn’t properly attached. The walls also seem very thin. You can hear practically everything from the living area to the bedroom. Overall, while the location and staff were good, the condition and comfort of the room left a lot to be desired. I would stay elsewhere with better accommodations.

Excellent, modern and high end property in the heart of downtown. Lots of close restaurants and shops to stroll to. The parking was easy and our family of four which includes two adult children enjoyed the space and convenience of the apartment. Thank you! Our hee home away from home in Vancouver.
