PARKING: We have parking for 2 vehicles on driveway. If your car leaks, please park over dirt up front. EV charging is available. KEY INFO: key is in lock box by front door frame. Code is last 4 digits of your phone number on contract, enter numbers and pull down on black tab, then pull key door towards you. NON-SMOKING $400 FINE FOR EVIDENCE OF SMOKING ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY WIFI name: SSID: UltimateFiber_2.4Ghz/5.0Ghz Password: 12MS002099060817 SMART TV: (no cable or satellite)Volume control is on the side of the remote TRASH/RECYCLING: MUST separate trash from recycling; cabin has separate containers inside and out. CRR is fining us if there is trash in the recycling container and we will pass it on to you. COMPOST: We appreciate you putting compost in container on counter. The compost barrel is next to trash BYOT: Bring Your Own Bath Towels…we supply them upon request (we are on septic, too hard on the system) COFFEE: Traditional coffee maker, we provide filters and coffee BATHROOM: Only flush #1, #2 and toilet paper…we are on a septic system. Plumbers’ fees will be incurred if you plug up the toilet with anything else. BE CONSERVATIVE WITH TOILET PAPER...TOO MUCH WILL PLUG THE TOILET and that’s a “crappy” situation! FIREPLACE: Never leave unattended or have a fire on a windy night. We supply 1 Duraflame/night during the winter. Flue is always open FIRE PIT: if it runs out of propane, please let me know ASAP and we will have another one delivered! CHECK-OUT sheet must be followed TEXT Arlene at 760.792.8267 when you check out & identify who you are . As a teacher, I appreciate complete sentences and also appreciate guests taking the time to be informed. Grab a cup of coffee and read on. Greetings! Welcome to our little piece of paradise at 6000 feet. We hope you have a relaxing and wonderful stay at The Lilac Cottage. FYI: the altitude may make you more tired than usual and the air is extremely dry. Drink lots of water to avoid “altitude headache” and dry mouth. Keep a glass of water by the bed as well as lip-balm. The non-readers will have the head-aches! This is a NON-SMOKING CABIN: If you smoke outside, you MUST dispose of your butts! If there are any butts found in the yard you will be fined $200. We are adamant about this. We are in an extremely high fire danger area and cigarette butts are a fire danger as well as being unsightly. If there is any evidence of smoking inside the cabin you will lose your $400 security deposit. Please respect the house rules and appreciate that most of our guests are looking for clean mountain air and fresh smelling cabins. Please do not book with us if this is a problem. The locked door to the left of the fireplace is not to be opened as it leads to the utility room which you will not be using. COTTAGE TEMPERATURE: Summer: Heat rises so the upstairs bedroom will get very warm during the day. Close the door and open the window to the room and it will be very comfortable by evening (it also has a window fan). If the upstairs bedroom is not being used, please keep its door closed and window open. We have a portable A/C unit in the living room that cools the cabin nicely! Only run it while in the cabin and never cooler than 74 degrees w/windows closed. Open all of the windows in the evening and close them in the morning; no AC required! Winter: The wall heater will warm cabin nicely. Keep bedroom doors open for heat to enter. FIRST BEDROOM: The first room has a queen size bed and a small closet. SECOND BEDROOM: this small bed room has a full size bed with a small closet just like the first. BATHROOM: There are extra supplies under the sink as well as in the basket in the cabinet, i.e. hair dryer, lotions.... Please limit shower time as the hot water heater does not replenish very quickly and because of the extreme water restrictions we’ve been given. After seven minutes the water will get rather chilly (the non-readers will be in for a chilly surprise!). In WW we all have septic tanks so we must be mindful of what gets flushed. Please do not flush any feminine products, hand wipes, paper towels or diaper wipes. Any plumber fees incurred for the plug up by these items will be removed from your security deposit. There is no bathtub. KITCHEN: Apartment sized refrigerator and microwave. Apt size gas stove/oven. Fully stocked with dishes, utensils, cups, pots and pans, traditional coffee maker, and toaster. Feel free to use or leave behind any condiments and/or food items in the refrigerator and cabinets. Please do not run more than one extra appliance concurrently as this is an older home and we don’t want to blow a fuse. Please do not put waste down the sink as there is no garbage disposal; we have a septic tank and it is far too hard on the system. Please put garbage in the trash, compost in compost container by back gate, and recycling in recycling bins. There are clearly marked containers by the kitchen door. There is an additional metal can for CRV recycling (benefits local students!). Trash and recycling MUST be separated. Trash pick up is on Tuesday early morning. If you are at the cabin on Monday night, please take your trash out to street. We are under extreme water restrictions, so if you would like to help out by washing your dishes above the big pot under the sink and then throwing the water onto the lilacs in the front yard or any other plants, the plants and I would thank you!!! The kitchen door has a funky old lock on it that only locks from the inside...don’t lock yourself out! UPSTAIRS BEDROOM: This small carpeted bedroom has a twin bed (bigger than a toddler bed, smaller than a twin) & is stocked with toys…perfect room for the kiddos. In the hall closet above stairs there is a Pack and Play, baby gate, and fold out mattress. Please supervise young children on the stairs. If you are not using this room in the winter, keep the door closed so the heat stays downstairs. This room gets very warm (heat rises), please crack the window if the door is open. LIVING ROOM: There is a 50” inch wall mounted flat screen SmartTV. We have Wifi, so feel free to stream, but remember to log out of your account before you check-out. Please keep the remote out of the reach of little ones as pushing the wrong buttons will disable the TV. Please return remote to coffee table. LINENS: Pull back the bedspread and sheets of any used beds so it is obvious that the bed was used. WATER: Wrightwood water comes from wells, so when it comes out of the tap it’s under high pressure and full of bubbles. The bubbles will disappear within a minute and you’ll have crystal clear water. I love Wrightwood water and think you will too. Again, drink LOTS of water; I get a pounding headache when I don’t! YARD: The spacious fenced in backyard has a table and five chairs as well as a full size hammock (not in winter) and charcoal Weber barbeque (you need to bring your own coals and lighter fluid). The string of lights can be plugged in by the kitchen door; please do not leave them on overnight (I will get a call from the neighbors!). There are also flood lights out back. To turn them on just twist the bulb in. There is a front deck with a small table and chairs. There is also a secluded sitting area in the front yard surrounded by lilac bushes. Enjoy the propane run firepit on the back deck and let us know if you run out of propane! FIREPLACE: We suggest using Duraflame logs...it is a three hour commitment. This is a traditional fireplace…the flue is open and only use one Duraflame log at a time. IF IT IS WINDY, DO NOT LIGHT A FIRE. Never leave a fire lit if you are leaving the cabin. DIRECTIONS: If you are coming from south of the 15/215 split, Travel North on the 15 and exit on 138. When you exit on the 138 turn left (west) towards Palmdale/Wrightwood. Travel eight miles until you reach HWY 2 (the first light). Turn left and travel approximately five miles. After the burn area (2022 Sheep Fire) you will see homes. Turn left on Elm (just before the Fire Station) and head uphill about five blocks to Helen. Turn left and the cabin is the third one on your right. An alternative, and much more beautiful route would be to exit 138, but right after you go over the bridge take a left on Lone Pine Canyon Road. The grade is a little steeper, but it’s a beautiful drive (only take this when the roads are completely clear of snow!).

Very kid friendly and very nice staff. Mountain High ski resort is another matter -- overpriced lift tickets, overpriced food. They charged 100 for a child's ticket and doesn't matter to them if you're arriving after lunch -- it's full price no matter what. Lame.

We absolutely loved this cottage. I have two teenagers, a toddler, and a husky and we all had such an amazing experience. There’s still so much to do in Wrightwood, stores nearby, enough equipment to cook breakfast lunch and dinner for the kids, and so much more. The town had so many cute little Shops to explore. The yard was perfect for our dog. My toddler was obsessed with all of the toys and the playroom, and my teens loved all the cute snacks and personalized trinkets for my family in the house. My husband and I were talking about making this an annual trip and I can’t wait to go back!!

Lilac Cottage was the perfect rustic retreat for me, my bestie, and our furballs. It was so easy to find, the town is really cute and has great places to eat, and the cottage was so adorable and comfortable. The fenced in yard is amazing and provided everything we needed to relax and stargaze, or dine al fresco. The retro cottage kitchen was well-appointed and supplied everything we could have wanted, and the bedrooms were very cozy and restful. I can't wait to stay at the cottage again when it snows, as well as when the lilacs are in full bloom!

The property is the perfect quaint escape from city life. The ambiance and layout were cozy and inviting and made my family feel very much at home. I would highly recommend "The Little Red House" for any family that wants to enjoy their stay at Wrightwood.

The layout of the cabin is perfect for a family. The personal touch like the chess set, little dog den with mood light, the play room/loft full of cute toys make this place beyond special. The backyard has hammock and dart game. Such a fun and beautiful place :)

My wife, daughter, two dogs and I stayed at the Lilac Cottage for two nights. The cabin was very nice. Small but clean and comfortable. The fenced backyard was great for the dogs. The house is in a quiet neighborhood among lots of pine trees but not far from shops and cafes. Very pretty area.

We booked a last minute trip during spring break to go snowboarding and sledding, and uncovered the most adorable cabin in Wrightwood. Only 2 minutes from Wrightwood city center and 7 minutes from Mountain High. The cabin was ideal for our family but would even be great for a couples get away. Had wonderful amenities to enjoy with kids but even had items (like a fire pit, hammock and bbq) to enjoy during summer months. Definitely going back again.

Enjoyed out time in this cabin. The host is most gracious. The place was spotless and comfy. It was well stocked with cream for our coffee in the morning. It is very close to the shops downtown Wrightwood. The backyard was nice to have for our dog and for us. Chairs and hammock were comfortable. Plan to come back!

I cannot say enough about this gem of a property and the property managers. Every little touch was thought of, and we felt like we were home the second we walked in the door. The communication couldn't have been better and I felt comfortable knowing that if anything was needed they were readily available. House was clean and comfortable, our pet was warmly welcomed as much as the two legged visitors. Will definitely be returning.

Loved the welcome sign, best communications, great backyard, and very clean insid. Back door was broken and bathroom doorknob was designed for left-hand people or something, which is very minor.

We visited the Lilac Cottage while staying in Wrightwood for my daughter’s birthday. The place was so clean and cozy and perfect for our family and pets. It has a very rustic feel which is always what you want when staying in the mountains. But it also has all the modern conveniences, and the hosts have added so many adorable details. The beds were super comfy and we enjoyed the fun games in the backyard. I do wish there was a back door leading to the back yard, would be a lot more convenient with pets, but not a big deal. Other than that our stay was perfect in every way and the hosts even added some thoughtful birthday surprises for my daughter. She was so excited. Thank you for an amazing experience, we would love to visit again soon!

Very cozy & clean cabin, originally built in 1929. We have a family of 5 plus our small dog, Millie. There are 2 small bedrooms with a bed in each, and up in the attic loft, there is a small bed, perfect for a young child. The kitchen is small, but has about everything you need. There is just one bathroom, actually a half bath, as there is no rub, just a shower. But it gets the job done, and is clean.
There are plenty of activities for the family, chess/ checkers, board games, etc. There is a fireplace, but we did not use it as it is currently summer and about 80 degrees. There is a small AC in living room/kitchen area, and it keeps the cabin cool during the day. At night, a nice breeze comes in if you leave the windows open. You don't need the AC at night. The backyard has plenty of seating, propane BBQ, & large hammock. Large pine trees and plenty of shade. The setting is beautiful, like staying in a mountain cabin, but within walking distance of a market, mini-market, brewery, tavern, pizzeria, eateries & gift shops ("Downtown"). They are all within a mile of the cabin.
We had a very pleasant stay here & wouldn't hesitate to return! The owners are very friendly & respond quickly to any questions you may have.
P.S. Just a quick note that there is no washer/dryer at this cabin. There is a Laundromat in a nearby town (Phelan), about 6 miles away.
