We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Villa Tokara. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. We loved early morning lattes and incredible banana bread on patio. Late night swims in the pool Fred helped us find numerous restaurants (the basket of shrimp at Visserij was a standout) and also beach recommendations. Our room was stunning (the one right above the main entrance!). They are in process of building a bar and restaurant which will only enhance the entire landscape. Also loved the central location in Willemstadt but was profoundly quiet and serene at night

The room was very comfortable and the Hotel had a nice pool. What separates this place is the service provided by the manager, Frederique, and the owners Jordan and Leiden. They attended our every need with care, made wonderful recommendations helping us with reservations and had a great positive attitude which permeates the Villa.

Charming and peaceful boutique hotel

What a charming boutique hotel. It was tranquil, clean, safe, and comfortable. Our room was very spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Conveniently located by some really great restaurants, a bus stop right across the street, and a short walk to the city center. Appreciated having a pool in their large courtyard - we jumped into the pool at the end of every day! Stefano went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. He gave us recs for restaurants, bars, and dive shops right after we checked in. Curacao can be tricky to get around if you don't rent a car, and when we couldn't get a taxi at night, he picked us up! Highly recommend staying here for a peaceful vacation.

This place was a gem! We ended up extending. It’s like staying at a colonial villa, and there are only a few other guest rooms on the property. A couple indoors, and two in the back in separate buildings. Super cool decor, amenities and walking distance to the city, without the noise. We felt like we got it almost to ourselves as there are hardly other guest rooms. The pool is big and clean! Strongly recommend this place.

This is a lovely house that has stylish decor in a shabby chic style. It is located near a few good restaurants and walkable into town. The beds have good quality linen. But it’s not really a hotel. There are cleaners that service your room but otherwise not much staff or service. Other reviews mention breakfast but that’s not on offer. They don’t actually have milk to make coffee. The property is also on Airbnb and I think that is more appropriate. It’s a nice place if you are comfortable with an Airbnb type arrangement but if you were hoping for hospitality and service it’s not ideal.

The hotel is a private large old Dutch colonial . It has an artsy flavor inside and out . There is a pool . Two three very good restaurants are in 3 min walk . That’s about it . The water in our shower was so hot , and it was not possible to regulate it . We complained but it did not change . There is no real blankets , just a bed cover , which was slippery off the bedsheet. The bed in our room was not very comfortable . They have no receptionist on duty past 11 am . They have cleaning ladies, which stay till 4 pm , they gave us shampoo after we asked for it . Shampoo is a basic stuff even in 2 star hotels. The property has a huge front yard and the tables but because no one is at the hotel to give you a drink and food if you ask - you are on your own . Overall - for 2 nights it was ok , but I would not choose it to come back .

Lovely Villa Tokara

Lovely boutique hotel in Willemstad.

Wonderful building, dating from the 1880's--has a bog, open, spacious feel, and the rooms are very comfortable. 20 minute to the center of town, and our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We would stay there again!

The hotel was not as advertised. There was a pest problem we were made aware of at check in. In the first 15 minutes of being in the room with all windows and doors closed, my daughter received over 10 bug bites. They tried giving us bug spray upon checking in saying they were aware they had a mosquito problem. The photos on their website were not current photos of the property. The room did not have a desk or TV as pictured and many of the rooms were under construction. All of which we were not notified about prior to our arrival. The photos also showed a sitting area in the family suite that we rented, however we learned upon arrival that it was actually the lobby to the hotel just outside the door to our bedroom. The second bedroom had shell chandeliers hanging that made as much noise as a wind chime due to the fan running. The rooms were extremely dark because the shutters had to be closed at all times, otherwise you were on display to the construction workers. Glass was broken behind the shutters in some of the windows. The lady checking us in was doing an excellent job representing her “employer/owner of the property”. She was as helpful as she could be but there was nothing she could do to fix the issues (especially the pest problem). It could be a great stay someday, it’s just not ready right now. We had to change venues. The hotel is refusing to refund our booking even though we did not stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Villa Tokara! The suite we stayed in was beautifully and tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. The villa is in a very walkable area and central to many restaurants, bars, and shopping. It is equally suitable for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Our host, Arrien, was extremely delightful and helpful!

This was a gem of a find for us. The owners and staff are lovely, helpful, and kind. The building is unique, beautiful, and feels both private and quiet but is within walking distance to great restaurants and shops. It was a great choice for us because we preferred something with more character and quaintness than a large resort. Thé villa looks strikingly beautiful when lit up at night. We will truly miss it. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning is also peaceful and a great way to start the day.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in der Villa Tokara! Die Lage ist super. Die Villa liegt nahe der Stadt, hat viele Restaurants in Laufweite und verfügt über einen gesicherten Parkplatz. Das gesamte Team ist unglaublich freundlich, hilfsbereit und unkompliziert. Wir haben uns sofort wie Zuhause gefühlt. Auch haben wir tolle Tipps für Restaurants und Ausflüge bekommen. Sehr lieb ist auch der Hauskater Gordo. Alle Räume des Hauses sind sehr hochwertig und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Hier macht sich das Team wirklich sehr viele Gedanken. Unser Zimmer war in einem kleinen Nebengebäude des Hauses und ebenfalls stilvoll eingerichtet. Das Bett sowie Kissen, Handtücher und Decken waren extrem weich und angenehm. Im Gemeinschaftbereich des Hauses befindet sich ein Café, mit sehr gutem Kaffee und einer kleinen Auswahl an Frühstück. Das war perfekt! Wir haben auch unseren Mietwagen über die Villa Tokara gebucht. Frederique hat uns den Kontakt zu Carina hergestellt. Der Service und das Auto waren hervorragend! Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen! Vielen lieben Dank für die tolle Zeit!

Sehr tolle historische villa und sehr geschmackvollen Einrichtung. Wir hatten die Familien Suite mit eigener Terrasse. Die Zimmer wurden jeden Tag super sauber gereinigt. Der Service war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Pool Area ist sehr einladend und man hat seine Ruhe, da nicht viele Zimmer vorhanden sind. Wir haben das gemocht. Man ist fußläufig in die Stadt erreichbar und es existieren sehr gute Restaurant in direkter Umgebung. Negativ war nur für mich das Frühstück, das wurde von einem nahegelegenen Café geliefert und es gab sehr wenig Auswahl. Für Kinder war zb nicht wirklich was dabei und wir mussten auf andere Cafés ausweichen. Das war immer bisschen stressig in der Früh. Auch Strand Handtücher hätte ich gerne öfters gewechselt gehabt. Zusammengefasst würde ich es nochmal buchen. Sehr empfehlenswert!
