This vibrant, bustling town is ideal for those who want something to do, with its marina, beaches, abbey and festivals. Ideally placed for exploring the cobbled back street shops, indoor market, abbey, church and a 3-mile stretch of golden sand. Whitby is a fishing town that is home to many amazing events throughout the year, including the bi-annual Goth Weekender, an annual folk festival, Christmas Festival and the Whitby Regatta. Alongside this, Whitby attracts visitors from all over who love to sample the many bars, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms, as well as museums and galleries. Take a walk up the 199 steps to the gothic abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel ’Dracula’, for a breathtaking view across the town, or jump on board one of the tourist boats that sail out for a different view of the town. You can even do a spot of whale watching at the right time of year.
Heading out into the North York Moors National Park you will find fantastic scenery in some of England’s finest countryside. Perfect for walkers, make your own unique trail across the bracken and heather, or join up with the Cleveland Way or the Cinder Track for a recognised route. Whether its waterfalls such as Falling Foss, or stunning coastline and bays such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, there is a photo opportunity at every stop.
Heading further afield, there is the Yorkshire Dales and the medieval walled city of York. Eden Camp wartime museum is just a short drive away in Pickering, as is Flamingo Land Theme Park. There are plenty of abbeys and stately homes to visit in the area and traditional seaside resorts such as Scarborough, with its waterpark and regular concerts at the open-air theatre. There is even a steam train that snakes its way through the North York Moors from Whitby, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from the comfort of your seat. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Happy Days was all I expected and is in an excellent position in town, having parking is a big bonus
Happy Days was all I expected and is in an excellent position in town, having parking is a big bonus and I negotiated the narrow entrance lane with no trouble but could be an issue for an extra large car . Everything you need is in the property and overall was a comfy stay but as someone else as said previously the sofas could be more comfortable !

Great little quirky place right in the heart of Whitby with everything you need.
Great little quirky place right in the heart of Whitby with everything you need. Parking spots are on a very tight back street so only good for smaller cars unless your driving skills are as good as mine. :0)Tip: During the winter months there is free parking at West Cliff car park very close by if you’re struggling like my friends were in their large SUV.

Happy Days is a large, well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage.
Happy Days is a large, well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage. With a big added bonus of its own parking, it's a bit tricky but doable. As an older person it was a little bit too far up the hill, no problem for the grandchildren, and the dog. Outside seating will be lovely in the warmer weather, another bonus. If I was fitter I'd definitely go again, and certainly recommend it

Our second time in this cottage, plenty of space for all of us.
Our second time in this cottage, plenty of space for all of us. Lovely and warm after a cold day out. Clean and tidy and a lovely welcome pack including dog treats. The weather was mixed but many pubs and restaurants are dog friendly. The beach is fabulous and also dog friendly at this time of the year.

A comfy home from home right in the centre of the town with a short walk to the beach.
Parking on site is a squeeze but we managed it with 2 large cars.
We were concerned about the exterior and interior stairs with our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, but she coped without any accident.
I would certainly stay here again in this beautiful town

We loved our stay at Happy Days, a wonderful cottage with lots of character in a perfect location.
We loved our stay at Happy Days, a wonderful cottage with lots of character in a perfect location. The outside space was perfect for soaking up the sun and for our little dog to potter about. It's a huge bonus for us to find a property with a parking space and it wasn't a problem going through the archway and small streets to park, just needed to go slowly. I would highly recommend this property, we will be back. Thank you Ruth.

We greatly enjoyed out time at happy days.
We greatly enjoyed out time at happy days. Two parking places directly outside the little patio area are a real bonus in whitby but took a lot of practice to learn reversing down the single Lane.... DYl both sides..... Large stone wall.... Opposite driveway! So bumper scraped and car 3 inches shorter, but I was an expert at the end of our trip! My father who drives a tiny car had no problem!
Yes the cottage is dated, but spotlessly clean. Everything worked OK.
If you're planning on cooking I would take your own sharp kitchen knife with you. We only ate in on two nights, but I would have found better knifes useful.
Also tea towels, cottage has two, but I also took two.
This cottage has a spiral staircase, but it is sturdy with a good handrail. My mother has mobility issues but managed.
The cottage has lots of beds and works well for a multi generational family group. The lovely owner left a wonderful bag of Bothams bakery goody's as a welcome pack on the table and milk in the fridge. This was an amazingly nice surprise and a treat for all, which we take this opportunity to thank her for.

Lovely, interesting cottage on 3 floors.
Lovely, interesting cottage on 3 floors. The only slight negative is the narrow road access but the locals were very helpful guiding me and my car. Brilliant location within Whitby, a very short walk to bakery, deli, pizza take out and other food outlets. Well-equipped and beautifully decorated.

We had a lovely holiday at Happy Days.
We had a lovely holiday at Happy Days. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable. It is set in a quiet part of Whitby but only a 100 yards from the shops and pubs and 2 minutes from the harbour.
There is a patio/garden area which is lovely in the sunshine, it is a real suntrap and a pleasant place to relax after a long walk on the moors.
Having private parking in Whitby was an essential requirement as parking can be difficult to find. There are 2 parking spaces, although it might be quite tight if you have 2 cars.
