This 42km Great Western Greenway (Westport - Achill), is the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland. It is a (mainly) traffic free cycling and walking trail which follows the route of the renowned Westport to Achill railway which closed in 1937.
Croagh Patrick, just 7km from the apartment, overlooks Clew Bay in County Mayo and is the third highest mountain in County Mayo. Croagh Patrick is renowned for its Patrician Pilgrimage in honour of Saint Patrick, Ireland's patron saint and attracts about 1 million pilgrims each year.
