Very nice and relaxing place to stay. I enjoyed sitting on the swing by the creek in the mornings. There are several nice trails in the area for hiking; some can be pretty strenuous. There was quite a bit of rain the last couple days of our stay, but there are some games at the cabin to play and we watched a couple movies. We grilled several nights on the gas grill. There is also a gas fire-pit table that I meant to try out, but I kept finding myself pulled to the swing by the creek. We did not need anything during our stay, but I'm sure Richard would have responded quickly if we had needed anything. Definitely a nice place to stay and relax.

2nd time back and it was as wonderful as before. Our kids and grandkids joined us this time. Was perfect for all. Gorgeous, peaceful location. We adventured farther out this time, but was great to always come back to the cabin.

Great summer getaway

Overall the stay was great! Everything was well stocked and clean. The views were amazing and it was fun to hang out on the patio near the creek. The hike the owner suggested was a little harder than we expected but was beautiful.

Amazing secluded property on the Venable creek

This is a fantastic property on a mountain creek, with wildlife all around, and the Sangre de Cristo mountains beckoning nearby to come hike me. The quaint towns of Westcliffe and Silvercliff are wonderful for shopping and dining out. I highly recommend the house and area.

Magical Alpine Cabin

We stayed five days in this wonderful home. The views were breathtaking and time seems to stand still when you go hiking just yards from the porch. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who needs a break from city life. Richard was informative and very welcoming.

Great vacation! This was one of the nicest cabins we’ve stayed at. It checked all the boxes. The cabin was very clean, tastefully decorated, full of amenities, and set on private serene setting near the creek. The deck overlooking the creek has a gorgeous fire table that we enjoyed sitting at, visiting, and playing games on too. We left with so many wonderful lasting memories. Loved the hiking so close to the property too. We would definitely stay here again if back near Westcliffe. Richard was also very helpful and prompt with his responses with any questions we had.

Fantastic place, gorgeous setting

The "Venable" cabin is a great place to stay for a large family, or, as in our case with a few friends. Rustic natural wood on the outside, and warm and inviting inside with all the modern amenities, this beautiful cabin sits alongside a mountain stream and is nestled within a grove of tall pine and Aspen. Absolutely gorgeous. Not sure one could ask for anything more.

Westcliffe Mountain Escape

We had the most relaxing time at this lovely cabin. We spent the mornings sipping our coffee on the deck while enjoying the soothing sounds of the mountain stream. We spent time exploring Westcliffe but most of all we enjoyed the quietness of the cabin. We saw deer a couple times and slept peacefully to the bubbling sounds of the stream. We highly recommend this clean, well-equipped and nicely decorated cabin.

Great location tucked away from it all!

Overall our stay in this property was great. Richard was very available and provided a ton of information at check-in. The location is hard to beat, being set back in the woods, but close enough to town that it's not out of the way. The place could use some minor maintenence like replacing light bulbs and such, and we did have a little trouble with the lock on the side entrance, though immediately upon being informed Richard had someone out to look at it, so that didn't affect our experience much. If I'm ever back in Westcliffe I would definitely stay here again! Everyone in town was beyond nice to us, too, which was a huge plus!

Back again

We stayed here last year in August 2023 and loved the place. The best features are the back deck overlooking a stream, that and the peace and quiet. We had some friends over that live in area and had a great visit. I heard repeated high pitch "coughs" in the middle of the night, thought it might be a bobcat, I Googled bobcat sounds and that was it. Pretty cool. We will be back!!
